The old trope that a pup with big paws is going to grow into a BIG dog has been proven less true than true for me.
My last doggie was a Stumpy Tailed Smithfield/Lab cross. He paws were humungous. She only grew to the size of a beagle.
And to all the naysayers about our NEW doggie, Starshie, ‘officially’ a Red-nosed Staffie (but the breeders lied through their teeth) although she had massive paws as an 8 week old, she’s now 8 months old and stands about knee high!
Bloody bitch is as strong as an ox though
I saw Stumpy Tailed Smithfield play a blues concert, once. He was great.
What is a STS?
In the opposite direction, my niece got a puppy whose mother was a lab, and which didn’t have particularly big paws. She now owns a big black moose. A perfectly friendly moose, but a moose.
That’s what happens when you get a pup without knowing what the father’s like.
Our boxer had big feet when he was a puppy. He is now the smallest boxer we’ve had (he’s our 4th). He weighs about 55# Our other boxers were in the 70-75# range and much taller.
Hickory the Dachshund has HUGE feet for such a little dog. Awesome Digger!
