As if two dogs weren’t enough, we added a new member to the pack this last weekend. Meet Rigatoni (We call him Rigs). He’s an 8wk old boxer. He joins Huck the Great Dane and Zeb the German Shepherd. The big guys are getting along with him pretty well. Huck is a little nervous about the situation sometimes and Zeb plays a little too rough. But we’re dealing with all of that. Potty training is the worst thing right now. We are constantly putting him outside. Thank goodness we still have nice weather, so we can be outside more than inside. He sleeps with me and sleeps all night without a peep. I’ve done this with all of the dogs we’ve had as puppies and it has always worked out great. They eventually slept in their own spot.
I just keep chanting to myself, “this stage won’t last forever”.

I was idly wondering just the other day why a puppy’s feet are the first thing to get big. I figured maybe it was the keep them from being injured with all of the running around they do.
^ Sounds good; plus: balance? The longer/spindlier the legs, the bigger the feet?
Our first dog was an 8 week old Border Collie mix and watching her grow her first year was like watching a street performer blow up a balloon animal in slow motion. First the head got real big, then the shoulders/chestal area caught up, then the abdominal region filled in, then the backside brought up the rear – remember when the street performer finishes the balloon animal by making the poofy tail pop out? Same deal here.
We’ve had him less that a week and I swear his legs have grown at least an inch.
I took him to work with me Tues & Wed. It was kind of hard, but I want him to get used to things - people, cars, noises, etc. He doesn’t understand the concept of walking on a leash yet, so I’ve had to carry him quite a bit. For as little as he looks, he’s a heavy little pork chop.
