Guy at my health club says the biggest loser people get tight skin from exercise and they do not get Lipo or lloose skin removed. It does not sound logical to me. Lose 150 lbs and you get loose skin. But the winners go on TV in abbreviated outfits. Do they have time to get an operation and heal?
I’ve noticed there is a big difference based on age (older contestants are left with more loose skin), but even I think the areas where it would show most are still covered, such as the belly and upper thighs.
Even the most visible place, the underside of the upper arm, can be hidden just by keeping the arms down at one’s side.
I take it it you missed the last season with Ron, sans clothes. His body looks like a shar pei now.
I lost ~180 pounds (very fast) when I was 17 and didn’t have a problem with loose skin - but being 17 probably had a lot to do with it.
Skin cannot tighten up due to exercise. Those who don’t have an excess of loose skin can thank a combination of the following:
[ul]
[li]Genetics[/li][li]Age – the younger you are, the better condition the skin and connective tissue and the more snap-back you’ll have[/li][li]Length of time overweight – the more time the skin spent stretched out, the less likely it will snap back[/li][li]Not Smoking – smoking wreaks havoc on skin[/li][/ul]
Finally, someone who does weight training WILL look better than someone who doesn’t because of the increased muscle that fills the gap, plus better connective tissue and circulation. But, again, exercise does not cause skin to shrink. Ever.
