Bigotry. The double standard.

I was flipping through channels and came across the Rob Nelson(sp?)show. The issue was racism, and everyone was telling these two people they were bigots or blah blah. Ok, since we live in a society where we are to be accepting of nearly everything, and that to have a view of something as “not right” or “unwholesome” is close minded or hateful. But, isn’t it just as bigoted to not accept someones view that homosexuality or interracial dating is wrong?

It seems to me that a necessary element of bigotry is unreasoning or unsuported prejudice. It is not irrational to be prejudiced against axe murderers. In my opinion, though, there are no good grounds for concluding that homosexual or interracial relationships are immoral. To the extent that I conclude that holders of a particular opinion which causes them to be prejudiced against other people have that prejudice without any good reason, I will think less of them on account of their holding that opinion, based on my reasoned aversion to people who think less of other people for no good reason.

your rant sucked…

Caling somebody narrow-minded doesn’t automatically make me narrow-minded.
Your narrow-minded…No YOU are for calling ME narrow minded… YOU are… no YOU are… If you dont accept MY racist Ideology YOUR a bigger BIGOT than me… …silly stuff…

…wasn’t meant to be a rant.

Hmmm. All kinds of platforms for people to be bigoted in a selective manner.

It’s pretty amusing to hear people complain about white intolerance or dislike of interracial relationships, when I see just as much Asian or black disapproval when anyone of their color dates a whtie person.

Now, the white position is generally considered “bigoted”, but if it comes from a black or Asian, it’s generally ignored. Why is that?

I smell :snif,snif…SNOORT,snif: yep smells like a GD brewing…
stir,stir,stir,BOOOM!..

In my experience, asian or black dissapproval of interracial relationships gets more exposure than white. Why is that?

Dread Pirate Jimbo and I have discussed the whole “tolerant of intolerance” issue, and we have come to the conclusion that there are some things that are empirically bad, and good people are intolerant of them; also, being intolerant of bad things does not make you an intolerant person. Of course, the difficulty comes in deciding which things are empirically bad for all people. I would not be willing to put homosexuality and interracial dating on the empirically bad list; I would put murder, child abuse, rape, genocide and terrorism on my “bad for everyone” list.
