Again? Seems like he picks O’Reilly for that slot at least once a week.
Perhaps Billy should have Fox Security knock on AQ’s door and have a little chat with them.
D’oh! You’re right-how could I forget! :smack:
My reaction, Bricker? I’d wonder if Al Qaeda had too much time on their hands.
None of this surprises me, as it is the natural progression for nuts in showbiz. I won’t be surprized when he pulls a gun in the control room of FOX and starts shooting producers and camera men either.
:smack: Oops, that last part should have been in a a spoiler, shouldn’t it…?
It really seems more along the lines of a Michael Jackson type statement.
Au contraire, mon dipshit!
I tend to post on more weighty issues than these, and apart from a general comment in an appropriate thread about Couric’s liberal bias or O’Donnell’s general assholiness, I doubt that you could find any posts by me where I have much to say at all as to the real motives and/or truthfulness of some comment made by this or that celebrity…especially in a 20/20 interview. And I don’t start Pit threads about them. I can guarantee you that had Couric or O’Donnell made such a remark you’d have heard nil from me.
Thus, barring cites to the contrary, I eagerly await your apology for the erroneous assertions you’ve made regarding my “certain” behavior in such a case.
Well your apparent unwillingness to say Bush makes any mistakes and you partially to tu quoque arguments with regard to your political opponents.
The fact that you were the first poster other than the OP to post to this doesn’t really do your argument any favours either.
This is pretty much exactly my take. My guess would be that the “death list” includes pretty much any and all American journalists and/or television personalities and that O’Reilly is trying to spin it to sound like he personally is a major al Qaeda target.
Not sure what you’re saying here…it sounds like unwillingness-to-admit-Bush-mistakes = “certainty” of calling Couric/O’Donnell liars if they say they’re on a hit list. Doesn’t make much sense to me.
Oh, btw, I think Bush has made plenty of mistakes. Any leader in time of war does.
I simply happened upon the thread shortly after it was posted. I saw the title and the poster and thought that perhaps Maureen had come to her senses and had something critical to say about Bill Clinton…then, once here and finding out otherwise, I simply decided to make a comment of my own.
Could be an entirely, or at least semi-, honest mistake on his part. The FBI could have made some comment about AlQ having it in for American media, or some such tripe, and Bill just heard the words “Bill O’Reilly”. Kind of like that Far Side cartoon about the dog who hears nothing when spoken to but “blah blah blah blah” until her name is spoken.
Osama gets basic cable? Interesting.
<snip>
You got that one right.
Didn’t B.O. just come out OK on Waterboarding? In my opinion, that’s justification enough for a personal fatwah.
It would be as stupid as claiming you has been in combat when any one you check to see that you had never been in the military.
Man, what a piece of ass-trash.
Are you referring to his comments about being in a combat situation while working as a journalist? If so, he damn well was in combat! You don’t have to be firing a gun to be in combat. Just ask any journalist returning from Afghanistan and/or Iraq who happened to be caught in a combat situation. I can very easily see myself saying that I was “in combat” or that I “saw combat” were I a journalist who’d been present in and among the fighting.
You have to remember that people on the air don’t have every word vetted for every possible meaning by countless others who oppose their every move, such as goes on around here. General statements are meant to be understood in general ways by the general public…and outside of boards such as this, they generally are.
They didn’t. O’Reilly did.
Maintaining party loyalty above all else requires pretending there’s no difference between reality and fantasy, doesn’t it?
I thought O’Reilly usually nominated himself.
(BTW, is Bill any relation to H. Ross Perot?)
He’s never been in a combat situation as a journalist either.
I can’t find any references, but does anyone know if O’Reilly was an embedded “journalist” during Afghanistan or Iraq? I’m able to find a reference that he shot footage of a riot in Buenos Aires during the Falklands war, but nothing to support a claim that he had been on a battleground during a military action.
Were the FBI to confirm that Bill O’Reilly specifically (as opposed to U.S. media persons in general) is known to be on Al Qaida’s “hit list”, I’d retract my accusation of Bill O’Reilly lying, and my estimation of the collective intelligence of those in the upper echelons of Al Qaida would drop quite a bit. As it is, I think John Mace probably got it right.
Well, I think it would’ve been better for everyone if he’d just come out and said “yeah, I banged her. So what?” We could’ve gotten past it and got a lot more accomplished. Same with admitting to the whole pot smoking thing. Either flat out deny it or admit it, don’t be coy. Hell, if we can elect someone with a cocaine problem, a little pot can’t possibly be a deal breaker.
