"Bill Clinton did worse things than Darrell Russell, and he won Florida twice.''

Bruce Allen is the new general manager of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Bucs got rid of their future hall of famer defensive tackle Warren Sapp, among others, and are replacing him with the incredibly squalid human Darrell Russell. Why acquire a guy with such a checkered past, he is asked.

Hey, Allen says. "Bill Clinton did worse things than Darrell Russell, and he won Florida twice.’’

Well dipshit, this is such a breathtakingly idiotic statement that I must take public issue. Stop me if I go too fast for you:

  1. Darrell Russell once faced 25 felony charges at once. ALL of said counts were for sexual assault, eight of them for administering drugs to facilitate rape. Take a closer look at Clinton’s experience re: Ken Starr, Lewinsky et al. and explain how it stacks, please? If you’ve got a hardon for crime-ridden presidencies, let’s start with the Reagan administrations. Here, I’ll help you get started: James Watt was once charged with 41 felonies.

2.Why must you conservatives continue to pound your pud over Clinton? Really now. Grow the fuck up already. It’s over. Whatever happened or didn’t happen he got away basically scot free. He’s not going to jail, he’s not utterly disgraced, Hillary is a Senator now and oh, yes, neener-neener!

3.What the fuck do you have to inject your ignorant political views into football? What you are currently doing or not doing for the Bucs is another discussion. But to defend a questionable hire by coming up with some bullshit about Clinton - and then combining it with an allusion to the corrupted and failed 2000 Florida election - Well sir, I can tell you’re not from around here.

Shut the fuck up and keep your dopey, addled, Limbaugh-ian drivel to yourself. Your job is to help field the finest football squad possible and Darrell Russell is a piss-poor substitute for a Sapp or John Lynch. If Fox News wanted another Ann Coulter, maybe they could find you a dress that fits.

But they didn’t call you, did they?

I agree – Darrell Russell would make a TERRIBLE defensive back!

And you know Allen is a republican/conservative… how, exactly?

And there are all sorts of public figures who have nothing to do with politics yet feel free to interject their ignorant political views into whatever they happen to be doing at the moment. Exhibit A: Several dozen outspoken Hollywood celebrities - you may choose right or left, whichever most annoys you.

I do agree though that trying to favorably compare Clinton’s sexual escapades with a string of felony rapes is contemptible.

That’s it. RTA you’re the unfortunate soul to get this bomb tossed at you. It’s something that has bugged me for years and came to a head here.

“Scot-Free”?!?

Any idea how offensive that is to Scots? It’s right up there with nigger, kike, redskin et al.

It’s a “throw-away” saying to most non-Scots, but find out the origin of the phrase before spewing it. Makes my blood boil.

Oh, btw, hope the Bucs suffer horribly this year. (though not as horribly as if Sapp was still on the roster)

OK. Scot-free.

Am I missing something here? Or being whooshed?

Yes, you should find the origin. From this site:

I think you anger is undeserved, duffer. Scot (lower-case) is a noun which means: tax, or levy; money assessed, or paid. Scot-free would then indicate that a person got away without paying what should be the normal penalty for an act, goods, or services.

Okay then. I guess that covers that nicely.

Er, apparently the origin is completely non Scotland-related.

Damnit! You ignorance fighters have slapped me down hard! I stand corrected. I got that confused witht the origins of Scotch Tape.

Mea Culpa

Well gee, let’s take a look at that. Using Clinton as the sine qua non of bad behavior, as a pre-set standard by which any other bad behavior may be favorably compared, this is simply not something you’ll hear out of Democrat/liberals.

One might argue that perhaps he just listens to a lot of conservative talk radio, and their propaganda and filth has bled into his psyche and he just can’t help letting it burble out again because it’s all he knows. In which case he’s still a dipshit; supersized even, with a double scoop of ignorance.

I thought Scots had thicker skin than that. “Heaven forfend I offend some wee sleekin! Go and cry to yer momma, how that boy in the playground called you a name, ye dirndl wearin’ peck-salad!” (Or whatever Billy Connolly would say, if he were here.) “Scot free” has positive connotations, and if it referred to real Scots it would be a compliment.

But since you mention it, and while I’m thinking football, someday they should make the Washington Redskins change their name.

Yes, because no Democrat ever could have thought the President getting caught with his pants down (so to speak) is hilarious, embarassing, disgusting, or even comment worthy. All Democrats just plug their ears and say “LALALALALA! It’s none of my business.”

Very homogenous group we’ve got there.

How DARE you use the word “homogenous”? Don’t you know how insulting that is to the geneous people in the world?

I think you should learn the origin of such words before tossing them about and insulting me and my fellow geneous people out there!

I think we can safely assume that Bruce Allen is a Republican.

Well… ok, I guess he might be a Republican. :o

Oh, now I see where you’re coming from. Actually I think most Dems would continue to say up front that they were disappointed by Clinton’s poor judgement, just as they did at the time. (I’d love to hear more about the planet you were living on when the Starr chamber exposed the Lewinsky affair, and the shit hit the fan in Congress.)

We are hearing a lot of "lalalala"s these days, only it’s the Bush supporters who have their fingers jammed into their ears.

Oh, come off it. Some liberals are still pounding their pud over Reagan.

It does often run in the family, although they are making great strides with gene therapy.
