How can a man who makes such memorable, excellent TV shows make movies that SUCK?
During the premier of Lenoard, Part 6, he actually stood outside the movie house trying to bribe patron NOT to see the movie (unsubstantiated rumor I heard once;) .

I think it has something to do with his TV shows being about him. What you get on the cosby show for instance is several actors doing a sitcom, and him doing standup comedy in the middle of it. So he’s got several straight men for his comedy bits on the show, whereas he might have to participate as a component of a movie/actually be an actor in the movies.
Bill Cosby isn’t particularly appealing unless he’s “being funny” and when he is, I think he’s hilarious.
If true, you’re not far off.
BTW: I went through his listing and none of the feature films he was involved in got more than a 6.0.
Ok, time for me to come out of the closet. I liked Leonard, Part 6. Oh, and Ghost Dad too.
Are you nuts? Uptown Saturday Night and Mother, Jugs & Speed were fly!
Put down the pipe, lost4life! Mother, Juggs & Speed might be the worst movie I’ve ever seen, and yes I’ve seen Hot to Trot “starring” Bobcat Goldthwaite.
(It could also go in the GQ thread about rape scenes being played for big laughs.)
I saw Cos in some kind of weird “tolerance” video. It was just Cos, sitting in a chair, with some weird white paint on his face. (Cos in white-face!)
Anyway, he goes down a long list of various ethnicities, telling how he doesn’t like them, but he doesn’t want to acutally do any harm to any of them, “Just put them on an island.”
At the end, he says something like, “Yeah, I’m a bigot. There’s two of us, and I don’t even like the other one.”
Anyone else ever seen this gem (I did in '77).
We had to watch it in home room once back when I was in middle school.
I did.
There he is, sucking on a cigar, and each group he decried, the film tint changed a different color (quite artistic…aka odd;) ).
What I remember most about the film was how he said something along the lines: “Let’s call 'em what they are: NIGGERS!”
This out of the mouth of Cosby?
I swear I remember him doing a McDonalds(or Burger King) ad for this movie, promoting the toys(or whatever) that went with the movie.
