Bill Moyers

I was talking with a dear friend of mine this morning, someone I respect and honor, who mentioned that she heard a story about the Bill Moyers specials on PBS. We were talking about the quality of tv reporting/analysis of the horrendous acts of Sept 11th when she mentioned that she heard that two sponsors have pulled their support for him due to some comments made during his insightful programs on PBS. His theme for the five or six shows were ten minutes interviews focusing on “how do we absorb this horror, what can we do to regain our equilibrilium”. In successful interviews He talked with his pastor, a Columbia university professor, two psychiatrists who worked on the phonebank gathering info on possible WTC victims from family members, a South African human rights activist, two artists and a theology prof from Harvard.

Transcripts/online video available from http://www.pbs.com
I urge you to check these interviews out because they lead us much farther from the standard talking heads seen on other tv programs.

My question is: is this true that two PBS sponsors pulled their support for Bill Moyers? I checked out PBS, yahoo news, cnn without any info. Have you heard about this? This is outrageous…who are these idiots who pulled out? Appreciate any info so I can share my thoughts with those little shits. Thank you very much.

Should this be moved to general questions since it deals with fact or search to verify a fact? I’m not sure if cafe society is the place to look for someone who might know the answer to this question.

By the by, someone else told me that they heard something similar on the View [B Walters tv chat program].

I haven’t heard anything on Bill Moyer, but is it possible you have him confused with Bill Maher?

Today’s story on [url=“http://www.drudgereport.com/flash6.htm”] The Drudge Report regarding Bill Maher.

Let me try that again here.

Thanks Tequila. Looks like there was confusion in the last name. By the by, what was so awful about Maher’s comment? Sigh… I hate censorship in the name of being politically correct!

We have a thread in GD about it. **spoke-**summed it up pretty well though, I thought.

Apparently a guest quibbled with the use of the word “cowards” to describe the terrorists, and referred to them as “warriors.” Bill then pointed out that the US could be considered cowardly for sending cruise missiles to hit targets, and concurred that, whatever else the terrorists were, they were not cowardly. More information here.
