Bill O'Reilly... go fuck yourself.

Wally George cracks my shit up. Why he doesn’t have his own show on a national station, I’ll never know.

I’m not SPOOFE, but I certainly agree with what he said. The man said that the US was wrong for attacking Afghanistan after 9/11. While it’s theoretically possible (theoretical in the sense that anything is possible, but not necesssarily likely) that the US could have negotiated with the Taliban to get them to turn over Bin Laden to us after 9/11, does he really think that we could have negotiated a settlement which turned over Bin Laden to the US and lifted the harshest elements of Taliban rule? Is there anything at all the US could have done, short of going to war which would have allowed Afghani women to return to school? I doubt it. 99% of the world already had sanctions in place against Afghanistan, and the Taliban didn’t seem to care. Hell, the US has had sanctions against Cuba for 30 + years and it hasn’t done a thing to dislodge Castro. Nor have sanctions done anything towards getting rid of Saddam. War is an evil nasty, horrible thing, but some times it is the only way.

Whatever happened to O’Reilly’s radio show? I remember it being a big deal that he was going to run head to head against Limbaugh, but I never heard anything after that. I’m assuming his show got creamed in the ratings.

He still has it, and yes it got creamed by Rush. My biggest complaint about the show is that the local FM talk station plays his show and preempts 2 hours of Niel Boortz, the only libertarian voice on radio.

8 PM - 9 PM, surf the internet / SDMB time. Less screaming at the TV. Nobody gets hurt.

I wonder what the OP’s reaction would be if the son of the 9/11 victim had been a loony “kill 'em all and take their oil” rightwinger and O’ Reilly had shouted him down?

Wally George! Blast from the past. Woo hoo! My dad was keen on watching the show just to see him get riled up.

Is he still on TV? I don’t think I can get him down in San Diego, but it would just make me feel warm and cozy to know that he’s still out there doing his thing.

Well, where I live he’s on Channel 6 (Public access) every Friday and Saturday night. Though, I honestly can’t tell if these are reruns or new. It looks like they are still stuck in the late70s early 80s, but the subjects still seem pretty topical.

One day, some of you will learn the miraculous power of ‘Shut the Fuck Up’. Unless Cecil is busting in to your house and forcing you to write in this thread, why don’t you just go to WorldNetDaily or Fox News instead?

Please keep in mind that Conservative and Liberal are only two of the three actual political divisions in the godd 'ol USA. Don’t forget ASSHOLE.

Into that group, you add Al Sharpton, Bill O’Reilly, John Ashcroft, Jesse Jackson, James Carville, Rush Limbaugh, and Sean Hannity.

Among others…

Yeah, there’s no others…

If you’re to the east of the Rockies, try 1030 on your AM dial pretty much any night of the week, and listen to David Brudnoy. Boston’s favorite late night talk show host, and a libertarian.

Also, I don’t think you’re looking hard enough if you haven’t found any other libertarians on the radio.

Just being friendly and offering a solution to the O’Reilly woes that seem to sweep through here every now and again. If some people are dumb enough to watch a show they know they will dislike, and will piss them off, well…

Fair enough, I suppose. But haven’t you ever felt compelled to watch/listen to someone you strongly dislike, if only for the purpose of fighting a battle of ideas/ideals?

I would rather get angry and vocalize my dissent than sit quietly by while evil is spread.

I saw this interview when it was on the box. Nothing O’Reilly did or said surprised me in the least. What surprises me the most, i think, is when anyone with views opposed to O’Reilly’s consents to go on his show. Surely they know that the host will happily descend to irrelevant observations, non-sequiturs, shouting, and finally outright abuse in an attempt to discredit those who disagree with him. Logical, rational and even-handed and level-headed debate have no place on this show.

I’m not really sure what the guests hope to get out of the experience. Surely it can’t be the idea that they’ll change anyone’s mind? People seem to watch O’Reilly for one of two reasons:

a) to have their world-view confirmed by O’Reilly
or
b) to have their view of O’Reilly confirmed by O’Reilly

If more potential guests and viewers ignored this fucker, maybe he’d end up being axed.

Anyone else notice how O’Reilly and the rest of the Lip Gloss Bunch over FNC refuse to acknowledge the collapsing economy? I mean really!

The US was a good 5 months into the recession before FNC acknowledged it and only to claim that we were well on our way to recovery. This was in August 2001. Now, the only economic news FNC broadcasts is “Recession? What Recession?! Some stocks are making money!” and other catshit along the same vein.

Has anyone told them that real Americans are losing their jobs and having zero luck finding new ones? That inflation is back? That interest rates are low and investments are stagnant? That there is no Easter Bunny?

Anyone who watches FNC for finacial news must still watch the local news on Christmas Eve for Santa’s sleigh on Doppler Weather Radar. Jeez.

When O’Reilly does mention the economy he always tries to find some way to blame Clinton and congressionl democrats for the collapse.

Talk about a majority party…

Well, no… because he expected to be given a fair shot at expressing his views on O’Reilly’s show. That’s like whacking a hornet’s nest with a baseball bat.

His voice counts just as much as anyone else’s… including O’Reilly’s, who made it quite clear that he doesn’t want to listen.

My own political views aren’t a factor in forming my opinion stated above. My own point of view has him painted as just another guy who wants to express a very exaggerated, unpopular view because he knows it’ll rile up the other side… similar to comparing people to Hitler.

Something like that… one of those higher, UHF channels. Me an’ Mercutio used to laugh about him a lot. Stoid would love the guy.

Did you see that one?

From the site:

Now that is a sound clip I would like to listen to.

Hell, it would make a great log-in .wav for any computer.
