Bill Watterson has left the building

Yesterday was my birthday. Every year for my birthday I buy myself a Calvin and Hobbes collection. As always I “spoiled” the whole thing by reading it all on my birthday. So… when I got to the bookstore I realized with much sadness that after this year, there is only one book of “new” cartoons left for me…

So whatever happened to the great comic genius, Bill Watterson? I mean, I know why he quit and all, but what is he doing now? I figure he’s up to something creative along the lines of painting or writing or something. I can’t seem to find any post-C&H info on the web.

Calvin to his teacher: “Miss Wormwood, I’m a fierce advocate of the separation of church and state. Nevertheless, I feel the need for spiritual guidance and comfort as I face the day’s struggles. So I was wondering if I could strip down, smear myself with paste, and set fire to this little effigy of you in a non-denominational sort of way.” --Calvin

<sigh> You just don’t see stuff like that in the papers now!

Apparently he’s living in the Midwest and painting. See Whatever happened to Bill Watterson?. Unfortunately, the site is 2 years old and doesn’t provide much information.

Relive the glory that was Calvin and Hobbes here.

BTW, Mr. Sheepshead, you scared the crap out of me with the thread title. I still dream of Calvin & Hobbes, Age 13.
