bin Laden is dead?

Probably thrill one, is more likely. Just I’d like to think we can clear a higher bar than “banana republic dictator.”

Yeah, but it wasn’t that much, really. We are a nation of better than 300 million, we never, ever act as one mind. And not all that raucus, compared to celebrations of a home team winnning some major sports event. I still recall the anarcy and wild abandon that resulted from the Minnesota Twins winning the World Series. There were car horns honking at one o’clock in the morning!! When Lutherans go wild…

I seriously doubt they care. They’re professionals doing a job.

Ninjas. It was ninjas. Stop spreading these unsubtantiated rumors of Navy SEALS.

Love you, Red, but here’s one matter on which we are not in lockstep. I feel people have every justification to be as celebratory now as we were mournful on the day he carried out his biggest attack.

Your welcome. It seemed to articulate my own unease.

Limbaugh: Thank God for President Obama

Truly, the end times are here. I have seen signs and portents. Winter is coming.

Well, Obama just secured a second term.

I’m pretty sure that whole thing was sarcasm.

(I’m not being whooshed, am I? I hate being whooshed)

You’re over thinking it and deciding what people feel.

'E’s dead! 'E’s an ex-terrorist! He has ceased to be! 'E’s expired and gone to meet 'is maker! 'E’s a stiff! 'E’s kicked the bucket, 'e’s shuffled off ‘is mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin’ choir invisibile!!

THIS IS AN EX-BIN LADEN!!

And that’s fine, Hentor. We all react differently to specific events and yet I highly doubt many – if any – of those that lost loved ones on the fateful day are out dancing in the streets. OBL’s death might give them closure but it’ll never bring back their tragic losses.

I am much more in line with what this writer says:

The death of Osama and the return to reality

Up is down, black is white, dogs and cats living together… I don’t know what anything means any more.

What’s that odd oinking sound from the sky…?

I am not partying but I am quite satisfied. Good riddance.

Are… are we in Bizarro World now? Is up down? Is the Pope Unitarian? Do bears shit in little plastic baggies which they then deposit in the nearest waste receptacle?

He figures it works for GW Bush. Come to think of it has anyone seen W and ME in the same place at the same time?

North Koreans get rid of Kim. Dance in the street.

Germany liberated from Nazis. Dance in the street.

ObL was dangerous. He was instrumental in killing thousands of Americans for his own crazy reasons. But he wasn’t some kind of existential threat to us, and the fact that he’s dead doesn’t mean one thing is going to change in how we live our lives. We’ll still be taking our shoes off at airports. We’ll still be worried about al Qaeda not only in Pakistan, but in Yemen, Somalia, and lost of other places. It’s much more symbolic than meaningful.

It might look something like this:

After getting nailed by a Daisy Cutter, Osama made his way to the pearly gates. There, he is greeted by George Washington.

“How dare you attack the nation I helped conceive!” yells Mr. Washington, slapping Osama in the face.

Patrick Henry comes up from behind. “You wanted to end the Americans’ liberty, so they gave you death!” Henry punches Osama on the nose.

James Madison comes up next, and says “This is why I allowed the Federal government to provide for the common defense!” He drops a large weight on Osama’s knee.

Osama is subject to similar beatings from John Randolph of Roanoke, James Monroe, and 66 other people who have the same love for liberty and America. As he writhes on the ground, Thomas Jefferson picks him up to hurl him back toward the gate where he is to be judged.

As Osama awaits his journey to his final very hot destination, he screams “This is not what I was promised!”

An angel replies “I told you there would be 72 Virginians waiting for you, you idiot. What did you think I said?”

Freaky.

I watched the entire clip waiting for a shoe to drop, but no shoe, other than Limbaugh’s thrice-prefacing of his laudatory comments by saying Obama continued the policies of George W Bush which, if he hadn’t, would probably cause me to question everything I thought I knew about humanity.

Come on, guys. Do you really not think Rush hammering over and over that only Obama and none, hear me NONE!, of his military advisers thought of a special forces attack was perhaps intended as sarcastic?
