Biochemistry - horse's hoof treatment?

Can anyone decipher this advertising material? Keratex Hoof Hardener

From my understanding, the active ingredient is methenal (formaldehyde) with some kind of buffering compound. Basically, it embalms the hoof. Is this stuff likely to be more effective than straight formalin (which is much cheaper)? Thanks in advance!

It might work better. They seem to say all the right things about slowing down the formaldehyde reaction so it has time to diffuse into the hoof. The bit about solvents changing the hydrogen bonding of helices, and then evaporating sounds bullshitty, but that could just be their copy editors.
It’d be nice to see the patent, but it appears to be European.
