The Quantum Connection, refering to the subatomic Anti-matter particles of Photons and electrons. Can the relationship of the two be used as a biological model for being Psychic, or any telecommunication with-in the realm of extra sensory perception? The reason I ask is because the most simple and logical answers seem to be the correct ones in my experience. I’d like a second opinion.
Quantum correlation cannot transmit information.
If you want the simple and logical answer, try this: There’s no such thing as extrasensory perception. If you think that’s a little harsh, please cite any double-blind study that has shown any sort of psychic powers. Even better, one that has been reproduced by other researchers.
I would not have posted my very first post had I wanted to get a reception like this one. I am posing the question because of the lack of any double blind experiemnt being conducted with any validity. I do not consider Uri Geller a valid source. The relationship between subatomic particles (elctrons and photons) and memory and cognitive processes is documented. Further more I understand that empirical evidence is hard to come by when studying psychic phenomina, There for it shouldn’t be studied at all?
But it has been studied. And studied. And studied some more. My question is, why search for the explanation of a phenomenon that has no evidence that it even exists?
I honestly do not want to defend the question this much. However, to answer the last post: Q: If there is no evidence that it even exists why study it at all? Ans: Well Theologians have been studying the efficacy of prayor for a millenia and there is no evidence for that [please don’t get me wrong I am just playing dev.advocate.] I would just like some kind of answer, I won’t be disappointed if I don’t get it but it would be a nice twist for my very first post.
Theologians aren’t in search of scientific explanations. In their case, the evidence is irrelevant. You appear to be searching for a scientific explanation. So in this case the evidence is very relevant.
Saltire said that quantum correlation cannot transmit information. Besides, even if it could there isn’t enough anti-matter out there and it isn’t around long enough to transmit significant amounts of information.
Documented where?
Hi Phlosphr and welcome (I assume that as a newbie myself I am still allowed to offer the hand of friendship on behalf of dopers generally)…
I share your desire for for simple solutions and answers. However, having hung about here for a few weeks, mainly ‘listening in on everyone else’, I have confirmed for myself that even simple questions do not necessarily have simple answers. Life had taught me this, but the dopers have re-inforced this.
Hang in there (I am), and remember:
