Funny, I usually hit the BD with electric gel first. Get him down to half strength, then electric or explosive buck to finish him off.
rexnervous, any luck? As you can see from further discussion, once you get further into the game, there are plenty of different strategies to take down a Big Daddy. My personal favorite, when there’s a corridor nearby - string a bunch of trap bolts across it then shoot the BD from the far end. Each trap wire paralyzes him for a second, as well as taking health. You can pound him with the ammo of your choice while he’s working his way towards you. And there’s always the humorous Hypnotize Big Daddy, where you can get 2 of them to slug it out against each other.

Am doing a little better, especially as some of the weaponry gets better (at least the frag grenades/proximity mines). THe first Rosie I ran into was virtually impossible, I swear I died 8 times (so much so that I began to feel that they were regenerating back to 100% health each time I went to Vita Chamber).
The second one I hacked the RPG turret (thanks to Max Torque’s idea and only died once.
But then I got the grenades/mines, and took down the next one w/o dying once.

I don’t know but this game seems to be taking forever (in a good way). I just explore every nook and cranny. Just at the Peach Wilkins area now.
Can’t imagine how long it’d take me to play Fallout 3.

Just one question for anyone who wants to ansewer, is it worth it to take on big daddies if there is no little girls running around.

Isn’t taking down a big daddy a reward in it self?
It was some time since I played it, but didn’t the big daddies drop a lot of cash and some rare parts you could use for special ammo and such?
Beside they kinda made me sad watching them,making those whale sounds, banging on the pipes looking for the little sister, I just harvested…better to put them out of their misery
Only if you’re hard up for cash. I usually had no problems on the cash front.
You can actually use the Bullseye plasmid to help you soften up the big daddy’s for this purpose. The Big Daddy’s won’t become hostile off the Bullseye plasmid. Alternately, if you have the plasmid that allows you to charm a big daddy, you can lead him around to another big daddy and watch them fight it out when you attack the second one.
And anyone ever hit the bug where you actually have 13 little sisters you can save?
I think I had it, it was on my saving little sister tour, so no penalty for not playing evil
Actually, the game only looks at the first twelve. So you can harvest the 13th for full ADAM and still get the good ending.
