Biscuits and Gravy for breakfast - you want some?

Biscuits and Gravy for breakfast is a special treat. I often buy it at Shipley Do-nuts or mom & pop cafes. McDonald’s has it too, but its not as good there. Costs less than $3 and thats cheap for breakfast.

We also make it at home. Tennessee Pride has an excellent Country Sausage Gravy in a boiling bag. Freezer section in Walmart.

Or buy a powder mix from Pioneer and add our own cooked sausage.

Pillsbury Grands! are a must for the biscuits.

Have I made you hungry for Biscuits and Gravy tomorrow?

Saturday, actually. Our local cafe does a mean biscuits & gravy - just the right amounts of everything. Park a plate of that next to a plate covered with chicken-fried steak, eggs and hashbrowns and I’m a happy camper.

Ab-so-fucking-lutely.

I want them, but alas, never order them or make them. But I can dream…

I am always hungry for biscuits and gravy!

I’ve never had them, and usually don’t eat breakfast. But I would have some for breakfast if someone offered to me. Your poll needs more options.

Mmm

Gonna go all snob on you though :p, as both the biscuits and the gravy are trivial to make, and they taste so good fresh. Although in a pinch, I’ll take pre-fab food-like products over none!

Mmm

And now after being snobby, I must admit that the last batch of B&G I made tasted like crap. I tried to make the recipe healthier, and it was no longer delicious.

I don’t always eat biscuits and gravy, but when I do, I prefer eating them at restaurants.

Only slightly, though I had some awesome biscuits and gravy when on vacation this summer (a little disconcerting to find on the continental breakfast for this Canadian, but tasty!)

Good thing you amended that statement. I’ve eaten a lot of really foul B&G. Most people don’t have a clue as to how to make either one.

I always make my own, because they’re better than anything I’ve ever had in a restaurant. Biscuits from scratch and gravy from scratch. Love it to death.

I eat it occasionally at restaurants, though usually for supper rather than for breakfast. I’ve never made it myself, though I’m sure I could. And if someone else is treating me to a meal, I’ll never turn down B&G (or most other foods, for that matter).

Grew up in New York. Never heard of the stuff. Moved to Kansas. 60 percent of the local restaurants serve it, each with their own delicous recipe. Quickly learned to love it. Never tried to make it at home.

That’s very interesting

We usually fix it for supper and consider it a vegetable.

I can’t tolerate heavy food for real breakfast. second breakfast, maybe.

lots of the traditional “breakfast” foods - like pancakes - go better for supper. then a nap before bed.

Once in a while, when I’m cooking a weekend breakfast with other folks to help eat it, I’ll make them from scratch. The Fella’s boys can really put it away and they think I’m a goddess performing magic when I make gravy of any kind. :stuck_out_tongue:

B&G is also something that I make for my dad as a treat when I go up north to visit. Since Dad, Mom or I really don’t need all of the not-so-healthy stuff, it’s a splurge for all of us.

Other than mom and pop places, restaurants just can’t compare, as a rule.

I’d like mine with a side of crispy hash browns and I’ll need a bottle of Tabasco sauce please.

I like biscuits, but I don’t get the gravy part because gravy is for turkey and there doesn’t seem to be any involved (and I don’t put gravy on my own turkey anyway). I’d sooner try it than eat baked beans with breakfast, though.

Living abroad, I taught myself how to make sage-seasoned breakfast sausage just so I could make delicacies like biscuits and gravy. My recipe tastes real good, too: just like Jimmy Dean’s.

You’re kidding about the turkey gravy, aren’t you? All you need to make sausage gravy is some milk, flour, salt, minced onions, and sausage grease, plus some freshly ground black pepper. Yum-O!

I make them from scratch, and I don’t like to brag but DAMN I’m a good B&G cook. As for trying to make them healthy, forget it. Fat is flavor, as they say, and honestly, the higher the fat content of the gravy, the better it tastes. Which is why I make them only rarely.

I am not the biggest fan of biscuits and gravy, but I will have it once every couple of years. It’s good, but I’m just not really into biscuits. The gravy, though, yum!
