Bizarre city and town names?

Sure there are lots of places with weird names. But who actually lives in these places. I for one reside in a city named “Bald Knob”. Anyone else here live in a place with a messed up name?

In South Africa up in the Northern Cape we have a town called Hotazel, which basically describes the weather there (Hot as hell).

When I was a kid I lived about 10 minutes from a town called SoSo Mississippi.

I lived in Gun Barrel City, TX one summer.

I’ve been to Hel, Norway

BTW it’s frozen over.

Isn’t there a town in Austria called Fuck?

Fucking.
And there’s Dildo, Newfoundland.

Felch, Michigan.

Here in PA, we have Intercourse and Blue Ball, the post offices for which make a lot of money mailing out adult materials.

There’s also Embarrass, Minnesota.

There’s a village in Wales called Wyre Piddle…

I’m a few miles from Sugar Tit, SC.

I actually lived near this town for a number of years, and have visited there often. It is a very nice place, and I cringe every time I see its name used in vain in The Pit. I’ve considered pointing out to the denizens of The Pit that the good folks of Felch probably do not appreciate having their town’s name bandied about this way, particularly when used in conjunction with goats and such, but I suspect the effect would be the opposite from what was intended, so I just try to ignore it.

Damn, I’m gonna have to change my .sig now!

Mars, PA

What is/was it? I don’t see it on your post. Hopefully, not a derogatory reference to the Felchians, since you are a yooper yourself, eh?

This thread wouldn’t be complete without…

Intercourse, PA!!!

Not to mention Kutztown, PA.

Ahh, those Pennsylvanian Dutch!

Bah, I clicked the box, why didn’t my sig show up?!?

Trying again…

And yeah, I’m a yooper, eh! Born and raised, all except for that 11 year stint in Colorado.

Athena,

Good Sig, but, yeah, I’m afraid you’re going to have to change it. I’ve not only been to Felch, but I’ve hunted partridge on Felch Mountain. I wasn’t born and raised there, but I lived in the UP for 5 years and will always be a yooper at heart.

On the subject of the OP, I believe there is also a town named Hell in Michigan, and it also freezes over annually. Also, while there is not a town named after it, there is a Podunk lake. Finally, I live now not far from a town named Mikado, which, when you stop and think about it, is a rather strange name for a little town in the middle of Michigan.

How about Peculiar, Mo? Or Tightwad, Mo?
