My first thought was translucent weather balloon. But it seems to dissipate at the end? Moving much too fast too, and faster than the surrounding clouds. Then I thought jet trail lit up by angled light form the setting sun, but I can’t see it being so cohesive for so long.
Just seriously weird. Help me out Dopers, what could that be?
HIT MUTE before clicking if you are at work. There are lots of curse words in these videos. I think I might have cursed too if I’d been there.
I saw that Atlas launch that morning. (CB=Cocoa Beach) Drove up to then beach just south of The Cape. Nice and dark and fairly clear but a fair amount of moon light. That was possibly the most spectacular launch I’ve ever seen and I’ve seen a lot of launches from about as close as one can get.
The pre dawn sunlight just over the horizon lit the exhaust plume like I’ve never seen before. Only negative was there was very little sound. The wind going north I assume. A nice rumble always adds to the experience.
