Bizarro - The Comic Strip

This may get moved to MPSIMS, but there is a question involved so I figured I’d put it here and let The Man decide.

In the daily comic Bizarro, there are several small icons that are repeated regularly. They’re not all in every comic, but there are at least a couple of them in every one. Now I’m sure It’s just the artist having fun, but does anyone know why he chose those particular items? I checked the FAQ on a Bizarro website, but didn’t find any helpful info.

Here’s the icons I’ve spotted on a regular basis:
-A piece of pie
-An upside down bird
-An alien in a flying saucer
-An eyeball
-A fish tail

Any others? Is there a reason why these items? Do they refer to earlier strips?

Eh, not a clue, but I’ll rescue it from page 2 for the Tuesday night group to consider.

I don’t know if he really did write something, but at some point in the cartoon one of the newspapers or such had a headline that said something to the effect of, “artist explains recurring symbols.” Now that is completely paraphrasing, but I do remember it appearing. You might check out if he has any books or websites.

(Excuse me for my terrible writing, I’m up a bit late and my head’s fuzzy.)

This link may be what you already checked, but they have a little message board going, and they seem to be talking about related issues. Also, it seems that the cartoonist has come in and responded to some people’s posts. Maybe he’d answer your question if you posted it there.

Thanks, I’ll try that post. I also thought of two more recurring icons:

-A crown
-The symbol K2

D Marie -
Looks they are addressing it as well on the message board there (no one seems to know over there either).

That was the site I checked out earlier, but I just looked under FAQ’s. I’ll monitor the message board to see if they figure it out, but it looks like it may be a secret until the artist comes forth.

Zoing had it right, but I seem to remember that there was a sub-headline saying something like “daring new website coming soon”.

I, personally, can’t wait. I’ve been dying to know the truth behind this.

Ockham’s Razor in action. They’re copyright traps.
