Bizarro cartoon by Dan Piraro

Is anyone familiar with this cartoon?

Why does Piraro try to put a little bird, a bunny rabbit, a piece of pie, and a tiny space alien into every one of his cartoons?

Interesting cartoon. I don’t know and neither do others. Sorry, bad internal link, so there went any possible answers.

I like to think he’s ‘flipping the bird’. As far as the rest? Dunno.

I flipped through The Best of Bizarro, Vol. 2, and could find no cartoons containing the items you described.

Then I checked out this site. Lo and behold, the pie and the alien are on the floor in today’s comic. In the previous day’s strip, there’s a bunny rabbit behind the shrink’s chair. And going back a few days, you find that there’s almost always hidden and not-so-hidden objects in the scene.

There’s a FAQ list, but none of the questions are about the items.

If nothing else, it’s something he started after my book was published, which was 1994.

I believe he also includes an eyeball. I’m not sure why he does this, but I kind of like it. Did anyone see Sunday’s Bizarro? I think it’s the best ever. I don’t even know where to begin to find a link for this, so I’d appreciate it if someone could help. It would lose a lot by simply describing it.

Thanks for the link, screech-owl. I did a search, but only under MPSIMS. Copyright traps, eh?

I figured each item referred to something in his private life, as an in-joke. But why cram these into every day’s cartoon? AudreyK is right in that he didn’t used to do this.

Those nutty cartoonists!

How about a different Bizarro question? In his autobiography, Piraro related the painful story about how his wife left him for another man. Piraro later drew a comic strip which he admits was intended to make fun of his wife’s new lover. However, it apparently only made sense to people that knew him personally and Piraro didn’t give the details. So does anyone know which strip it was and what was the inside joke?
