Icelandic singer Björk is recovering from laser surgery to remove a polyp on her vocal cords. I know some people don’t like her voice, or what she does with it. Your objections are noted in advance.
My dad had to have the old style knife surgery when I was a kid for similar polyps. In his case, it was due to abusing his vocal cords. He was a Punch and Judy puppeteer, and he did Punch’s voice without using a swazzle. It took him a while to recover, and a whole Christmas season of shows had been already booked. So he recorded the show on tape and taught the puppets and magic act to my mom, and she handled the whole season by herself.
By the way, Björk’s name rhymes with “work”, not “dork”.
