What is going on in Chicago?? “The final toll for Independence Day 2015 in Chicago was ten killed and 55 wounded.”
I cannot get my mind around that. It sounds like Baghdad. What is going on in Chicago? Is it time to bring in the marines or something? is anyone policing that town? Can someone get Wyatt Earp on the line? we need him. and even children are being gunned down in cold blood. Amari, 7 years old shot down. Does this not break your heart?
Allen West writes:
“Amari, my heart cries aloud for you and all I can wish is that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ has wrapped his loving arms around you. You deserved so much more than a bullet. You deserved the American dream, the dream of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. You should not have lost your life, your liberty, your pursuit of happiness as we celebrated those unalienable rights on this 239th Independence Day weekend.” http://allenbwest.com/2015/07/hypocrite-the-reason-obama-wont-sing-at-this-boys-funeral-is-despicable/
Things are better, at least according to a cabbie I talked to when I was up there a few months ago, and there’s no better person to ask about such things than a cabbie. 15 years ago it was a heck of a lot worse.
That being said, I was appalled to find out that one of the men whose kid got killed because he was the target was out despite having a ton of felonies. That just should not happen. Incorrigible criminals should be removed from society permanently, and places that have done that by definition don’t see murders involving five time felons.
Allen West did not write that. Although it’s as rife with horseshit as anything he writes on his own, so he’s clearly chosen his “editor-in-chief” appropriately.
Rightly or wrongly (hint, it’s wrongly), people won’t give a shit about Chicago because it is gangs killing gangs. The occasional killing of a child or other innocent bystander is a momentary tragedy that gets attention, but it’s quickly overwhelmed by all the other shootings. In the minds of most people, they get what they deserve and it’s their own problem to clean up.
You’re right, now that link goes to a cached version -8 hours later than when I first saw it. You’ll just have to trust us; it really did say Michele in an earlier version.
And we seem to have demonstrated the OP’s point that no one cares about Chicago. This thread is mostly posts about who wrote a blog article and google caching.
