If students prefer corporal punishment because it is over quickly, then clearly it should not be used in favor of methods that drive the point home more deeply.
Anyone advocating the use of corporal punishment for anyone who is over 8 with the idea that the punishment immediately follows the transgression is a moron and should probably not be allowed in public.
