My Blackberry Pearl has been doing some weird things lately. It will inexplicably delete my entire SMS inbox without provocation. Sometimes, I will be browsing the web and the indicator will appear showing that I have received a text message, and just as suddenly it disappears and takes my entire inbox with it! When this happens I have no way to see who just messaged me.
I have my settings set to clear messages every 30 days. I’ve tried rebooting the phone, and it still appears to be doing this several times a day.
Does anybody else have this problem, or has heard of this happening?
My phone is unlocked but I use AT&T.
My wife’s phone does this. We can usually fix it by taking out the sim card and reseating it. Of course, it then only works for a week or so then it does it again.
My Blackberry Pearl also kind of randomly decides how it’s going to work, and I can never find a solution but eventually it will start to work regularly again. I have no idea how or why.
Unfortunately, that’s a known issue with the Pearl. Your memory gets full, so it decides to clear it all out for you! You should contact your provider to see if they’ve created a firmware update for that issue yet. I haven’t worked in the cell phone industry in about 6 months, but we were instructed to tell customers that the manufacturer was “developing a solution”, but I have no idea if that was really true or simply an attempt at placating dissatisfied customers.
Yeah, Curve user. My inbox would wipe clean before I could read some.
Keep the memory free. Mine does it when I push the pics and stuff to the max. Lots of pics and files = run the risk of the inbox for mail and sms just wiping clean!
Almost cost me a relationship one time. “But I didn’t get you texts!”
Yeah, I’ve been clearing the memory, I take minimal pictures and clear my cache frequently. It’s incredibly annoying to see that I’ve received a message and have my phone decide it’s not worth it to keep.
