Blackclaw is going for the layoff record

I’ve been laid off again. That’s twice for this year. I plan on going for three just as soon as I manage to uncurl myself from the fetal position and start applying again for a job.

Don’t worry about, unless this happens every year, my dad has you beat easily. Poor us. I swear, he’s worked for every major and some non-major telecommunications company on this side of the country. Kinda disturbing, if you think about it. Anyways, good luck, my good friend.

I’m sorry to hear it, Blackclaw. I’m sure you’ll come out of this one just fine, too, but don’t be ashamed to stay in that fetal position for at least a little while. Sometimes you just need to curl up and pretend the world doesn’t exist for a while.

Maybe you’re using up a few years’ quota of bad luck all at once and it’ll be smooth sailing for a while soon.

:frowning: Good luck.

Hey! Darktalon, send me a copy of your resume (without the name or address for confidentiality) and I’ll see if I can spruce it up for you. I’d be glad to help in any way that I can.

Right there with you, though my layoffs are almost exactly 10 years apart, I just got canned too. I won’t be actually released until the 31st of December, while half of my department was released the day we had “the meeting”. The kicker is that the ones who were already released will still be drawing a paycheck till the 31st, while they sit at home or start their new job, I still have to get up early, sit through traffic, and put up with the daily B.S. of a job that I have no future with. Bastards.

Condolences, Blackclaw. I just hope you have the same luck that I do. Every time I’ve been laid off, I’ve found a better job than the one I had.

(Rysdad–currently laid off and attending school while “on the dole.” Legally, too, I might add.)

My layoffs seem to be once a year :frowning:

I’ve now been out of work(in Silicon Valley) since 5/1. It really bites. I’m even trying for jobs that are WAY under my salary/qualifications, and even THEY don’t want me :frowning:

Sam

Thanks all. I’m trying not to feel too sorry for myself because I know I’m not the only one. So far I’m not really happy with this century. I hope the economy picks up soon.

Best of luck in your job search. It can be quite positive. Spritle-sis has been laid off three times during a 12 month period. Each lay-off resulted in her receiving a better job with an increase in pay, while being paid for unused leave and severance from her old job. For her, lay-offs are a shrewd business move!

Yuck. I am so sorry. If it helps you feel better, I anticipate that the ax is about to fall here, too. It seems kind of strange to me to be laid off from a cemetery. It seems like there should be a constant supply of customers.

I hate this economy. I hope you find something very soon.
