So I decided to start building free flight model planes again after a couple years pause… well, in all honesty I never stoped building models, but the past two years I´ve only done indoor flying models that doesn´t look much like a plane anyway.
So… now I´m working on something I haven´t tried before, I´ve made a plane flight, I´ve made a twin engine plane fly, I´ve even made a ornithopter fly, but I´ve never ,ever made a helicopter fly!
Check out how things are coming together over here:
Yeah, it’s a little late, I’m at work, and I’m tired, so my inner adolescent is coming out. That’s why I read your URL as www. smellingmyfarts.com/etc.
16 years, or 2/3 rds of my life for what´s worth. I intend to keep doing it untill I kick the bucket, it´s a great hobby, build in rainy days, go out in sunny weather, meet nice people and burn off some stress; I can´t ask for more.
That´s the tricky part, because the rubber motor runs along the fuselage, but the power output must be perpendicular to that, so I had to build a transmission shaft that goes forward and then up to the main rotor; it´s called a Moore Drive and it´s explained in some detail in the first pages of that thread.
The problem with the model is that it starts flying quite well and then it begins to oscillate back and forth; if I can cure that it´ll fly just peachy.
It´s probaly a matter of placing the center of gravity on the right spot.
