Blank DVDs - Tired of tossing 3 out of 4 -Taiyo Yuden?

I’ve done some searching and the consensus seems to be that Taiyo Yuden (a brand I’ve never heard of before) is the truly reliable blank DVd.

But then the reports say only this kind or that or buy from authorized sellers only and now it’s JVC…Sigh.

I don’t have to have 16X. 8X is fine. I don’t have to print on it, nothing. It just has to work. It just has to let me burn to it and work when I put it in again.

So does anyone know if the JVC is really the same, or which are the same, and if valueline is not as reliable or is it just slower…?

I’ve used Taiyo Yuden CD-ROMs for year with no issues. If you’re tossing 3 out of 4 I’d say you likely have a software or burner issue. Can you try that batch in another computer and burner? Otherwise contact whoever sold them to you.

I’ve bought bargain basement RW DVDs and DL DVDs and never had to toss more than 1 or 2 from a 25 pack spindle. My last buy was Verbatim DLs (people swear by them) and I haven’t had to toss any (yet). Another vote for it being a burner issue.

Taiyo Yuden makes the best DVD-R’s.
I’ve recorded hundreds without a failure.

Seriously, is this from the 1990’s? If you’re tossing more than one in twenty of Billy Bob’s House O’ Cheapie DVD disks or better, there’s something wrong. These things are basically infallible these days – I can’t remember my last disk failure, and I use “whatever” brand.

When I used to live in an older-infrastructure area, I had more failures until I put a UPS on the computer, then they stopped completely. Maybe try that to even out power spikes.
