Where wolf? There wolf!
Best version of Putting on the Ritz ever!
Candygram for Mongo.
Mongo love candy.
“You have to remember that these are people of the land, the common clay of the new west. You know… morons.”
I still roll when I hear that line.
Maybe sombody here will know this one. I’ve seen a version that my grandfather recorded from tv back in the '80’s (on BETA no less!) which included many scenes that the original movie didn’t have. IMHO it was actually funnier. There is an extended version of the capture of Mongo and a scene where the govenor visits the town while the carboard cutouts are there. (Reporter: “But govener, these people are dummies” Gov: (in a whisper)“I know that, how do you think I got elected?”) Among other rather funny moments. Has anyone else seen this verion and know where I can get a copy?
Yes, yes, YES!
I was starting to think I hallucinated that. I saw that version too. It was the first time I ever saw B.S. and those scenes were great! Especially the various attempts to capture Mongo:
“Try your luck, you might win a genuine Spanish dubloon!”
“Oooooh, Mongo like baloons!”
I’ve seen the movie on TV (edited for Fox Family Channel and unedited) but I haven’t seen the version with those extra secenes for years.
I have to admit I’m a big Mel Brooks fan, at least through “Spaceballs.” My favorite is “High Anxiety.” It’s the first of his movies I ever saw and to this day I’m fond of telling folks that “tardies do not get fruit cup” in my best Nurse Diesel voice.
Zappo
That’s the original “edited for television” version. Sadly, the only way to get a copy is to record it off TV, any channel other than FoxFam or HBO/Showtime/Cinemax/etc. should do fine. If a DVD is ever released incorporating the extra scenes, I’ll be first in line!
