I’m looking to buy a great blender - price is less of a concern than a durable, strong-motored blender that won’t die with 2 ice cubes in it. We’ll be using it mainly for basic kitchen / cooking things (at home, not in a restaurant) but would also like to crush up the occasional frozen drink.
What features should I look for? What recommendations do people have when buying a blender for the home? Any bartenders out there feel free to reply.
I have two alternatives for ya’. Bothe of these I have owned and both of these I have sold (I used to sell higher-end kitchen gear and these were my two choices for margarita night or smoothie making).
Waring PBb25(stainless steel bar blender): Black and stainless steel which is nice loking and durable, this one usually runs for about $200 and has a good warranty. The motor is designed specifically for ice. This blender does not have a bunch of speeds to choose from but in reality, do you need a bunch of speeds? It has a 350 watt motor.
KitckenAid KSB5 (lots of colors): This puppy is usually about a hundred bucks less than the waring. It has 5 speeds (not really like you use them), a heavy glass mixing container. It is an amazing 500 watts (their stand mixers don’t even go that high) and has a pulse option. It can get a little hot on the bottom, but not dangerously so. My favorite feature is that it is easy to clean as all the buttons are sealed and can be wiped down.
Well, thats my two suggestions. Either one is a good bet.
Since you’re looking for suggestions, I’ll move this thread to IMHO.
