This is TAME compared to the emails I send out. Humiliation and Embarrassment are the KEYS to behavior modification in my opinion. Lil’ somethin I picked up from Catholic School. I would put someone’s laziness and lack of effort on display for all to see in a heartbeat.
It could also be that I work with some really really lazy SALESPEOPLE who think their shit don’t stink. And I RELISH being there at every turn to ruin their little SlackOff Party.
OTOH, I will admit that as you’re not a horrific repeat offender (twice in three years, as you said) I wouldn’t have lumped you in with the real slackers.
I agree,Sycorob. There was no need for this. Do you report to the person who sent this? Are you in the same chain of command? Either there has been a Major change in policy which you missed, or timesheet-boy is Way out of line. But do it right: dot you i’s, cross your t’s and go through HR. And let the person you report to know how angry this has made you. Good Luck!
Broadcasting information of an employee’s work performance without their permission is just asking to get smacked with a lawsuit. Turning a timesheet in late is small potatoes compared to other matters, but it should still be in the “off limits” area.
Much as I sympathize with the accountants, the guy who sent the email needs to be spanked thoroughly. This sort of thing give HR managers bleeding ulcers.
Sycorob, I would suggest that you forward this email to your HR department, and ask them to clarify company confidentiality policies for this walking target - with special emphasis on financial consequences, should an employee take it in their head to initiate legal action. CC it to your boss, the email writer, and his/her boss.
