Does anybody know if this was taken from an existing opera and jazzed-up for the movie? I’d like to find a CD or two with some similar sounding jazzy/funky/operetic style music if anybody has suggestions or recommendations.
This site lists that selection as “Lucia di Lammermoor”, which I recognize as by Donizetti. I’ve never seen the opera, nor do I own the soundtrack, so I can’t give you any more specific info. The techno part was most likely written or adapted by the composer, Eric Serra.
Granted, it won’t sound like it did in the movie. Only part of it was sung by a purely human voice. The later bits were computer-generated/augmented.
Sounded awesome, though.
