Blue Jay's Kevin Pillar says a bad word, gets crucified.

hmmmm… Why do supposedly straight guys sometimes fixate so much on hot man on man sex?

Here’s your answer. This is you, right?

I guess everything I had typed up was already said. I hope OP gets why this isn’t just about one guy accepting the apology, or just about a bad word. They want to send a message that you can’t just apologize and get no punishment. And the slur insults all gay people. Oh, and you don’t accidentally slip and say these words unless they are already in your vocabulary.

Also, unrelated to anything, do any of you think that some trolls may actually be defending people by taking the ire off them and making them seem fine by comparison?

OMG!!!

You got me!!!:o

All kidding aside, though, you do seem very fixated on man on man sex acts which does usually mean that there is some attraction to males.

Swing and a miss.

I’m not gay. Nor am I disturbed by people who are gay.

You’ve made it obvious you are.

I give you an erection? Thanks, I guess, but no thanks.

I feel so rejected :frowning:

Furiously!!

Is there any other way to masturbate???

Can I just say that I love everyone, and I just want a group-hug right now

It’s actually worse, even Jesus was suspended only one day.

Yes, it’s embarrassing to have to relate the transgressions occurring in modern baseball to semi-fans.

I had to tell Mrs. J. that one Jays player uttered a homophobic slur which was so grievous that the sports media couldn’t tell us what word he used, because even adults cannot be exposed to it.* And then, another Jays’ player hit a home run and tossed his bat aside in an insolent and provocative manner.

I’m surprised anyone is allowed to attend MLB games anymore given such dreadful behavior.

*not that the player wasn’t at fault, but the prissiness of the media is beyond belief.

So you are gay.

And they even took him down before sundown!

Ryan Getzlaf of the Anaheim Ducks has been fined $10,000 by the Ducks for an “inapropriate” remark that was “demeaning and disrespectful”. Apparently the thing he said was aimed at an on-ice official (oops) and, according to those who were there and are lip-readers, he called the official a “fucking cocksucker.” He was not suspendded. Ok. But the media is referring to his remark as “homophobic” and a “homophobic slur.” My question is: is cocksucker homophobic? Because that had never occurred to me as being homophobic any more than asshole is; it’s a pretty generic insult, isn’t it?

I had always treated it as such, but I’ve learned (and understand the reasoning) that it is the same as calling something gay (another thing I stopped doing about 1/4 century ago).

It’s getting tougher to insult people without offending a third party somewhere else.

Really? Are you two from the moon or something?

Calling a man a cocksucker is literally accusing him of engaging in homosexual acts. This is not an if you squint at it in the dark it might look a little homophobic kind of insult. It couldn’t be more straightforwardly homophobic.

It’s always interested me how people don’t notice the literal meaning of common insults. It’s fun when people realize “motherfucker” means someone who has had sex with his own mom. (Though, as mild as it’s considered nowadays, many think it means someone who fucks other people’s moms.)

I remember when I figured out what calling someone a douchebag literally meant.

I realized it a while back, which is why I stopped using it long ago unless directly quoting Al Swearengen or Mister Wu (and Deadwood has been off the air so long that I don’t do that much anymore). And it’s not homophobic - it’s insulting to homosexuals (and presumably women who suck cocks - I guess it implies sluttiness) when used to insult someone, whether or not the target is gay (or a slut, or both). There is a difference. Once I put two and two together and realized that calling someone a cocksucker was implying that there was something wrong with being gay (which happened long before the internet or even Seinfeld telling me “not that there’s anything wrong with that” and when I could count the number of people I knew were gay on the fingers of one hand), I stopped using it. When I insult someone, I’m looking to get under the skin of the target rather than an accurate description. However, terms like “gay” and “cocksucker” don’t just hit the intended target. Neither does “son of a bitch”, but I still use that one.

Anyone who has had more than one child with the same woman (or any number of other variations on the theme) is technically a “mother fucker”, and many are happily “mother fuckers” repeatedly. Yet most, if not all, of them know that if called a “mother fucker” by a third party, it is highly likely meant as an insult (probably because the mother implied though rarely clarified is the targets own).

You wish

So, since I am a woman, if I call another women a cocksucker it’s ok then?
