Blue mood movies

For the last week or so I have been in a bit of a blue mood, I haven’t felt like watching any TV, movies or reading anthing. When I do get this way I do tend to make myself go out more and do things and not just flip through the TV channels. I did finally see Spiderman this weekend, and while it was an excellent movie, I probably wasn’t in the best frame of mind to enjoy it.

I also got Lost in Translation from the library this weekend, and even though it was the dreadful full screen copy, I must say it fit perfectly with my mood. I really enjoyed it and found it to be an excellent movie. It markedly different from most current junk that comes out of Hollywood and had a rather bittersweet ending that fit well with the rest of the movie.

When I was younger my blue mood movie of choice was St. Elmos Fire. The love song to that movie was our prom theme and I would occasionally rent that movie. However perhaps because I am getting older and have seen it so many times, I no longer feel like seeing it again.

Not really looking for anything to cheer up with, I have plenty of flicks for that. Just kind of curious about other good blue mood movies folks like to see.

When I’m in a funk, I always go back to the same movies. I have my movie shelves arranged by mood. Yes, I’m weird.

The Thin Man. I love this series. Never fails to lift my spirits.
To Catch a Thief- Cary Grant. Grace Kelly. Great scenery, killer car chases.
Father Goose. Yup. More Cary Grant. He pretty much epitomizes (for me) everything I think a gentleman should be. Plus he was great at physical comedy.
I Was a Male War Bride Are we sensing a trend, here?

If I’m really bummed, I pull out the big guns: Tracie & Hepburn.
