I have a toilet, with a padded seat. It was white, but has since developed a blue tinge. What’s more, it’s in the shape of my bum! I figured out that it became worse everytime I wear a certain pair of bluejeans. My skin is not turning blue, and I don’t sit on the seat with my pants up. No matter what I do, I can’t get it off!! I even called the Customer Service line for my toilet, but to no success. Anyone have any ideas on what to do??
I have tried every kind of cleaning product I can think of. It’s embarassing (yet hilariously funny) to have a blue butt on my toilet seat, so any advice would be appreciated.
Use white paint left over from some walls you painted?
Steal white out from the office and retouch the seat?
Blue jean dye sets when you dip them after dyeing. I don’t remember if the solution is acid or base.
Try wiping the seat with an vinegar water solution. Try a baking soda and water solution, if the other doesn’t work. You may need to let the solution soaked rag set on the seat for a few minutes. It won’t hurt to try.
I don’t know if this is the same phenomenon, but when I was a kid my dad used to keep ball point pens in his hip pocket. On several occasions they broke. The ink saturated his pants all the way to skin level, I guess, because we used to find blue ink stains on the toilet seat. My mother was not amused because he rarely noticed and she often had to clean it up.
I thought it was kinda funny, though.
Simplest way, moisten the seat and sprinkle with bleaching cleanser. Let it stand overnight then re-dampen and scrub off.
A more agressive method would be to place tissue on the seat and wet it with bleach from a spray bottle.
This works on vinal floors if the stain hasn’t penatrated too deeply. If it has, Im afraid the cheapest way to eliminate the stain would be to replace the seat.
Yeah, getting a new seat is easy. They come with instructions that even a fool could use to put it on. But it must match the size of the old one. Youmight have to bring in the old one to match it. What fun.
I used to manage an Ace Hardware. If memory serves, we only stocked two sizes of toilet seats: standard residential and elongated commercial (with the open space in front).
There are probably other sizes, but I think the majority of them are a standard size.
If it were me, I’d by a new one. You can get them on sale for ten bucks.
