And by that, I mean that they’ve actually made a car with a cloth body. Pictures and video here. It’s definitely a good looking machine, probably pretty lightweight, and the idea of being able to replace the body in a couple hours for cheap is appealing. Somehow I don’t see the yonic hood making it into production, though.
Yeah, just wait till you snag a fingernail while closing the door and put a ladder in the bodywork. :smack:
I’d be curious what happens to the fabric at highway speeds. Or what about when it’s snowing? Does it collapse under the weight of the snow?
My god, that’s sexy.
Yet another example of cars using aircraft technology
That would definitely be a challenge. Any sort of rippling implies a large increase in drag - so the fabric would need to be extremely taut.
Wanna bet it will cost at least $500 for your local mechanic to iron out a wrinkle?
Those blinking headligts are right off the awesome chart.
A few weeks ago I was assigned to work on a TV ad for a new Tata SUV model, since it was still in development the car they used for road testing was completely coverd in, for lack of better term, upholstery to conceal its details. It was the same kind of material used for the interior of the car, it looked pretty good actually. I for one I´m a bit bored of the monotonous high luster, lacquered paint jobs. Semi gloss or matte even can look good too.
Seems like it would be very easy to break into it.
That head-on view makes the car look like fucking Wario.
Sexy?! I think it’s hideous! A fat German on a bicycle wearing a lycra Batman outfit.
Seems like it would be useful for racing. You could change the car dynamically based on what you needed for each curve and straightaway on the course. You might even be able to do something to lessen crosswinds with a smart enough computer.
I want my motorcycle to do that.
That car winked at me!
Oh, I don’t know. It’s the first car that makes me want to lick the engine.
Meh, so are the soft-top Jeeps, and most convertibles.
