I liked the fake news crawls on the financial channel with stuff like “Greece to default on everything, just an overall default.”
I’ve watched this several times now…it’s great! Thanks for posting.
And, completely opposite of this awesome new music video we have Kanye West’s newest video, Bound2. I thought at first it was a spoof but it appears to be real. Awful song, awful lyrics, awful video…I don’t see a shred of talent with anything associated with that debacle.
I also couldn’t resist watching that 3 or 4 times through just now. Really great. It must have a lot of fun for the actors - it’s like a great theater game.
And Marc Maron! That was a nice surprise.
I liked the audience on Price is Right.
Imagine being the subject of the songs message, and you are trying to switch channels to try drown it out - I guess you could read a few different meanings or comments into it.
Same here. But when I did work it out … very, very cool.
Just introduced it to a bunch of my students. They love it, as do I.
Nothing to add but thank you. Outstanding!
I didn’t get it at first.
Then I realized the lip movements of the people on all the channels were synced to the lyrics and my mind was blown.
I suspect there’s some ideal combination of channel-flipping that will produce the perfect video for the song that won’t be figured out for years. (Naturally, it HAS to be on Pawn Stars for “you better take your diamond ring, you better pawn it babe”).
Man I feel good after that!
When you’re right, you’re right.
Not bad. I liked all the channels except that one with the curly haired guy playing the harmonica. What was up with that?
Only thing missing: Obama. And maybe Pope Frankie.
Once I got to Dylan actually singing the song, I stopped changing the channel.
What a talent!
(BTW the Rolling Stones do a great live cover of the song.)
Got to be the news channel for “do you want to make a deal”. Not going to spoiler it, just watch it again!
Awesome! Thanks.
Go to the finance channel and check out the messages. I bet there is lots of stuff like that. I was watching the cooking channel when “your next meal” came up.
This is even better than the Subterranean Homesick Blues video on Don’t Look Back.
I have to believe that this is a technological tour-de-force, rather than an “everybody wants to be in a Dylan video” management powerplay. That is, they didn’t get everyone to dub it, they faked the lip-synch. Yes? No? Is there any information anywhere about how this came to be?
Awesome in any case. The “music video for the new millennium” fur shur.
It is an interesting interpretation to see angry Bachelor contestant screaming “How does it feel!”. I also switched right to Pawn Stars on “…do you want to make a deal?”
I think there are all kinds of great pairings.
So I did a little research and apparently the curly-haired guy in the old footage is a folk singer named Robert Zimmerman. Maybe he used to be more famous. Songwriter David Jones (I think he was in the Monkees?) once wrote a tribute song to him.
Here’s an article about making the video. Relevant quote:
That song is aural sewage. He seems illiterate, dumb and full of himself, and the lyrics are equally illiterate and dumb, and they sound like they’re delivered by a special-needs high school student trying to be a rapper.
My wife and I watched it prior to the Rogen/Franco parody, and she turned to me about 3/4 of the way through and said “If this guy wasn’t already famous, he and this video would be on Tosh.0.”
