She started out as a news anchor here in Raleigh and was one of the first CNN headline news anchors in early 80s. For some reason she got to be real popular in Poland when on CNN International. She lived around the corner from me for a short time. She came back here to do a newscast for the 50th anniversary of the local station WRAL.
I remember her well. She seemed like a class act and a decent journalist. RIP.
FWIW, her name appears to have been Bobbie Battista with 3 ts. I don’t know if it’s worth getting a mod to fix.

I think I remember her best from the old CNN Talkback Live show.
Mr VOW was stationed in Germany from '83 to '86. The Daughter and I joined him in '84. Once we moved into Post Housing, we could pick up the AFN TV channel. AFN used CNN for the world news, and at that time period, Bobbi Battista was the anchor.
The mention of her name brought back memories of that time.

I grew up with Headline News in the 80s. Bobbi was one of my favorites along with Lynne Russell. RIP.
Another HN anchor from the era passed away last summer, Bob Losure.
