He said that he identified $2 trillion over the next 10 years. Ignoring the fact that these 10 year predictions are always nonsense and that all of them put off any difficult decision until after they have left office, 10 years/2 trillion equals 200 billion per year. We have a deficit of $1.2 trillion. Where is the other trillion in cuts?
I just watched Jindal for a few minutes. He seemed so nervously goofy and desperately folksy that I just couldn’t take it anymore. I agree that he hasn’t advanced his White House hopes one iota, and has probably hurt them.
Is it your position we should eliminate the deficit in one year, during the largest recession in 70 years?
Let’s go to the tape:
It is clear from the quote that this was used as an example of the projects proposed, not specifying that that was the only one. And since the OP makes it clear that this project is on the table among others, as does Jindal, the accusation of lying is misplaced, and should be retracted.
The tape says the train is included in the spending bill. It is not. Jindal is a liar. You are supporting him. I don’t know what that makes you. But you will get no retraction from me.
That word doesn’t mean what you think it means. (bolding mine)
Wait—is it your position that " $8 billion for high-speed rail projects, such as a “magnetic levitation” line from Las Vegas to Disneyland…" is included in the spending bill? But that “the train” is not? I’m not following you here.
Sorry, that was a typo. The train is not in the bill.
I don’t get why the OP gets so upset about it either. What if B.J had said between Chicago and Minneapolis as an example, or NY and Atlanta? Would there have been a similar OP?
There’s half a dozen high speed light rail projects on the table, and the LV LA one has been on the table for some 20 years.
Maybe the OP can enlighten us on what it is about the LV LA maglev project that is so offensive that even mentioning it in conjunction with the stimulus money that it’s eligible for makes his forehead vein pop.
You sad, pathetic, desperate apologist! Please find some evidence anywhere of an actual proposed train in the bill between Las Vegas and LA (or, now, apparently Disneyland).
Or retract your statement above.
Warning: Never question somebody’s use of a slang term before checking with Urban Dictionary. Your hipness card has been temporarily suspended.
Because it isn’t in the [expletive deleted] bill, you [expletive deleted] [expletive deleted]. Use your [expletive deleted]-filled head for a single [expletive deleted] second.
I am not offended by the train; I am offended by the lie.
He said it’s going to take some time to go through it all. He’s only been on the job for a month. Can we give him some time to review and evaluate all of it?
Bolding mine.

Well, the good news is, I think Obama won the 2008 election last night.
Or at least, Jindal lost the Republican nom.
And if Jindal had said, “$8 billion for high-speed rail projects, such as a ‘magnetic levitation’ line from Rush Limbaugh’s house to a oxycontin lab in Duluth,” that would have been just as innocent a ferinstance. Just because it isn’t specifically *in *the bill doesnt mean it’s not a high speed train idea … am I right, people?
Ferchrisakes, it’s obvious that “Disneyland to Las Vegas” is the latest center square on Right Wing Buzz Word Bingo.
You used it as a noun. You highlighted a meaning when used as an adjective.
Who gives a copulation? The point is, the word “constitutional” can and has been used as a euphemism for “bowel movement.” Let’s not nitpick this anymore.

But Kimstu addressed this, so it still stands as an accurate description.
