Historically, those states have all gotten more than their share of federal dollars.
I think it’s nice that the governors are volunteering to make amends for that.
They should be encouraged in their efforts.
I haven’t been to any of those states. But it sounds like you have.
Can you share some of your experiences with the rest of us? What did you see and hear in each of those states? Can you explain their backwardness to the rest of us?
Nope. Things here will be bad and continue to stay worse. They’ll be even worse here, and people like Haley Barbour can point and say “He look, I done told’d you I was right. Now pass that bottle of gin.”
That’s great. At long last some Republican leaders are ready to live up to their claims of favoring accountability. Hopefully these folks are willing to wean themselves off the government teat altogether. At least until they come closer to being net contributors rather than net moochers.
I’d rather they stop taking our money in exchange for giving us Trent Lott, Haley Barbour, David Duke, Lindsay Graham, Strom Thurmond and any of the other tumors they have foisted upon us.
I mean, Kentucky isn’t on that list at all. We elected a Democrat this time around, and he’ll be on that stimulus cash like country ham on a biscuit.
(Of course, the guy he replaced was a Republican who would have been right at home among this pack of jackasses, and who would have pulled just such a stunt. He was under indictment when he ran for re-election, and he still only lost 60-40.)
I think it is stupid. Just because you are philosophically against something, doesn’t mean you can’t take advantage of it. Especially since refusing to take advantage will make you comparatively worse off. It’s like that idiotic “tax rebate” we all got last year; I thought it was stupid and pointless, and it was, but nevertheless I still took the money and spent it. Otherwise, I’d be at a disadvantage.
Sure, the stimulus is a bad idea. But it is an even worse idea to let everyone else cash in and let yourself be comparatively worse off.
Actually I do. Right to bare arms is defined in the Constitution at the same level as many other named and unnamed inalienable rights. So while I don’t believe we have a natural inalienable right to guns our government is defined from it’s setup as beliving that.
So it’s best to treat guns as an alienable right lest things like Freedom of Religion, Freedom of Speech, Rights to a public speedy trial by jury without secret evidence also come under scrutiny and attack… oh snap.
I forgot the efforts of Republicans. They already are.
Well I still support gun rights. Let me know when Republicans support the rest of the bill of rights, and the general welfare of America too.
