Bobby Jindal. you lying sack of [disgusting bodily waste]

“Arugula”
“Tax Cut”
“Porkulus”
“Crocoduck”

BINGO!

Obama won it on Nov. 4. Maybe you mean the 2012 election?

The proper usage is “airborne copulation.”

You forgot “Hussein”

Well, there is this…

The GOP keeps having this problem–a name emerges as the “Saviour of the Party”, the name gets built up by the talking heads and the editorial writers, but when the public finally gets a look at said Messiah you can almost hear that sound effect they play when you lose on The Price is Right.

See also: Rudy Giuliani, Fred Thompson. Sarah Palin somehow still remains plausible as a party leader, which is one reason why I drink, but I think most people realize she isn’t going to lead the GOP back to sanity.

With Jindal’s epic fail, I wonder who the next GOP Messiah will be? My money is on Eric Cantor–ironic, since he’s Jewish.

:smack:

FUCK ME.

I am using my head. How many ‘shovel ready’ high speed train projects are there? Maybe 3? A half dozen maybe in the wings?

The LALV has been a pet project for Harry Reids for a long time. It isn’t that hard to deduce that he will push for a bunch of the money to go for that project. None of the other projects have such a highly placed champion.

Of course there isn’t specific language for that project in the bill. I don’t think there’s specific language for any project anywhere in the bill.

Lets turn the tables around. In some alternate universe, McCain/Palin wins the election, and Ted Stevens becomes the Senate Leader. They write and pass a stimulus bill that sets aside $8 billion for building bridges. Would it be that far out to assume that Ted probably wants a piece of that action for his Gravina Island pet project?

Which, as has already been pointed out, is not the same as saying the proposed rail is a funded item as is being claimed.

We had the same reaction to Jindal last night. I think I said, “Does he think we are six?”

But this morning he was on Today and he spoke normally (I think it was him. I’m not a morning person). My guess is he just can’t give a speech. He has three years to learn and improve.

I find it odd that the GOP picks these “saviors” rather than letting the people choose the voice that resonates for them. I can’t think of any Rs I know that would have pinned their hopes on Jindal.

Sinaijon,

It would be easy to not lie or mislead on this point. Just say that, in your opinion, the bill’s money will likely go to a specific misguided light rail project. Fine. No one objects to that opinion.

What we object to is the lie that the bill includes that earmark, or the misleading statement that the bill funds projects “such as” that.

If I say that the bill includes funding for basic scientific research such as psychological study of the reasons why many Republicans brazenly mislead the American public, would my statement be true and not misleading?

So is the GOP objection on the train connecting Las Vegas to Disneyland? Or on a train connecting Las Vegas and Los Angeles?

Connecting Las Vegas and Los Angeles seems sensible to me.
Connecting Las Vegas and Disneyland seems incongruent to me, but I will also believe the the GOP tossed in “Disneyland” to make the spending seem superfluous.

Your quote means nothing. There is still no such provision in the bill. The exact light rail projects are to be determined later. The bill does NOT set aside money for the Disney rail. Jindal made that up. The fact that the Republicans are forced to keep making things up to prove how “larded” the bill is is testament to how lean it really is.

It’s very sad that your party has decided to put all its chips on hoping for the economy to go tits up. It’s like refusing to help throw buckets of water on a house fire so you can blame the people throwing the water for the house burning down.

The proposed route is Las Vegas-Anaheim.

What are you talking about, for one thing? High speed rail and light rail are two separate things. If you try to go fast on light rail it will snap apart.

Light rail generally is delineated as commuting lines serving a hub, though they do have other functions. High speed rail operates at far higher speed over far longer distances.

That’s exactly the thing about Bobby Jindal. He’s a pretty smart guy. That slow, dopey performance last night was not a reflection of his own intellect, but of how he sees the voters – especially Republican voters. It’s been my impression for years that Jindal dumbs his act down to a crawl and puts on the cornpone and Jaysus costume not because it’s who he really is, but it’s who he thinks the voters of of his state are (and he’s not far wrong, I’m originally from that state and know something about it). He’s like a used car salesman working the rubes, but someone needs to tell him the whole country isn’t like Lousiana.

An accurate correction, I’m sure, but also an irrelevant one.

Levitating trainins and the facts:

http://www.factcheck.org/politics/gop_stimulus_myths.html

The stimulus program is largely a collection of state and local projects that need to be done ,and doing them will assist the economy and provide employment. That is practically by definition pork . Take out the pork and the bill is just a tax break bill. The argument is ridiculous. We are having a huge pork bill to stimulate the economy. The response that it is bad because it is full of pork is inane.
