mind my stupidity and persistent forgetfulness, but is there any way that you can live without a body? i mean, your brain has a lot less crap to deal with then. come on, gimme a piece of your mind.

it’s tough being a retard, no?

Well, techinically, your brain is part of your body.

Aside from that, I am 98% certain that our technology has not gone far enough to support a brain without a body.

On the blind assumption that this isn’t a driveby waste of time…

Er, for one, you would need to build an artificial body to circulate fresh blood into it… it isn’t a matter of your bran having “less crap to deal with” since the body’s functions are largely subconcious and hard wired. I don’t even want to think about what conciousness would be like without sensory input or output of any type… though I would find the chemical reactions of the brain upon being detatched from the body interesting.

There was a related thread topic, On the subject of decapitated heads and Soviet experimentation that you might find interesting. Features a link to a film of a Soviet medical experiment, BTW. So be forewarned if you’re squeemish.

As Zagadka said, without sensory input the brain would not function well. The hardwired properties of the brain would probably not accept such a situation.

Well you would still need something to pump your blood, something to oxygenate the blood, something to clean the blood, something to nourish what’s left of the body to provide energy…and so on. So I’m going with no, it is not possible.

And you mean exactly what by this comment? Never mind, don’t answer that.

The General Question, such as it was, has been answered, so I’ll go ahead and close this thread.
