"Boil me some noodles and fry me some eggs." Were fried eggs and noodles ever a thing?

We might soon be going further than that, judging by a current ad campaign promoting cold cereal for dinner. Yeah, that’ll be ideal for growing kids.

I was going to add that about ramen. Not my fave thing to add to ramen, but it’s very common. I do it occasionally, and when I do the egg is neither hard-boiled nor is it stirred in raw. I find the former to be the wrong texture for ramen and the latter to cling to the noodles in a goopy mess. The best way IMHO is to toss in bits of lightly scrambled eggs, as with fried rice.

Not exactly the same thing, but years ago a friend introduced me to a version of linguine puttanesca that is similar. The original used either scallops or tiny shrimps but now I fry up some bacon instead. You saute some onions and mushrooms with garlic and oregano while cooking the linguine. When the pasta is cooked, drain it and add the veggies and crumbled bacon, then mix in the raw eggs. Let the heat of the pasta and veggies cook the egg for a couple of minutes, then serve.

Well, they’re both traditional addins for proper ramen, but you’re not Japanese so you can obviously do what you please.

The dish is called “Hungover Noodles”. Definitely sounds like something from the 1940s.

actually, there’s a chili pace here in St Louis, Chili Mac that offers spaghetti, eggs, with chili on top

Noodles and fried eggs I can understand. Tossed salad and scrambled eggs however…

Still, we don’t know if the song means he ate those two things all at once, though.
