Boo hoo ( kind of a rant / long )

I moved into my new bedroom some days ago. The carpet had some bad stains and my mother used a strong cleaner to get rid of them nicely successfully. Excited to finally get to sleep in my own room without having to convince my sister to shut her cell phone off and same with the lights, I slept soundly.

The next morning, my throat felt like someone was having a party but their tiki candles got out of control when someone threw a martini on them to turn them off. Mother told me that she felt the same thing when using the carpet product but it went away later. It annoyed me for the most part for the rest of the day.

Today, it actually hurts. The right side feels sawed off with sandpaper and I can barely swallow, much less talk. I hate sore throats since mine usually build up slimy mucus all around, and my gag reflex is on max. I’ve often vomited with colds because of this. I get colds way too often ( seven - eight colds a year maybe? ). It’'s pissing my off by now.

Any remedies to ease my poor larynx? ( nothing like lozenges; they put my stomach through a horrible time ) I’ve tried taking ibuprofen this morning, it worked. The effect wore off, though. My stomach is upset for some odd reason and my hands/feet are freezing, with my forehead heating up. Might be a fever or cold. I’m actually wanting it to be either one because if I get a cold, I won’t have to get another for months, plus the benefit of not having to go through this again in a few weeks if this were just allergies.

[/rant] I rant so much  thanks for reading
On a happier note, I met Jeff Corwin today because I went for a wildlife benefit walk on a local park. Had a great time with the hundreds of dogs there

Stop sleeping in that room until the fumes are remedied. I don’t know what that will take, maybe carpet cleaning or just opening the windows for ventilation for a couple of days, but for heaven’s sake, stop exposing yourself to them!

Edit: I know that’s not really helpful in terms of what to do to make you feel better. Sorry. Maybe you should see a doctor - bring along the cleaning product or information about what it contains. If you have health insurance, it might be worth it for your own peace of mind.

Get rid of the fumes, and make a note of the brand and type of cleaner.

Second, I recommend an herbal tea called Sleepytime by Celestial Seasonings. It will make you sleepy, but it’s an excellent mild sore throat remedy. I sweeten it with honey, but it can also be consumed unsweetened, or with other sweeteners. I’ve found this tea to be very good with all sorts of colds and congestions.

The best throat soother I have ever found is an herbal tea called Throat Coat, by Traditional Medicinals. It’s made from slippery elm bark, and it truly soothes the throat in a way nothing else I’ve ever tried does.

But I also agree that you shouldn’t sleep in there till the fumes have dissipated, and you should also talk to your doctor – that kind of irritation is way too much to just ignore.

Thanks for the all advice

I’ll be sure not to sleep in that room again, that for sure. I might try out the Celestial Season’s tea; I’ve used the same brand previously and they make the tastiest teas.
I don’t think the irritation is that severe; I’m feeling better now that I ate some bread with honey. Probably taking the Motrin again to sleep soundly. If it doesn’t go away by tomorrow, I’ll do something more serious.

Fresh pineapple also is very good for a sore throat. Seriously. Some kind of enzyme in it or something.

Really, featherlou? Odd stuff.
I’m a lot better today, can talk and am hungry as a beast. I went to sleep at one a.m, although.
Thanks again for the replies.
