Another moaning, sick thread. But…it’s nearly 3am and I’m exhausted so that’s my excuse. Going on day five now of being sick with some sort of cold or something. All the classic symptoms. Congestion, sore throat, coughing. I haven’t been able to get more than three hours sleep at a time. My throat is killing me, but I have to breathe through my mouth because I’m stuffed up. Nyquil no longer knocks me out for some reason and now, when I do manage to stop coughing…I’ve got this annoying crackling sound when I exhale. It drives me nuts and I concentrate on it so much I can’t sleep. I’m going to try and get an appointment tomorrow and hopefully they can give me something. Because every ‘home remedy’ I’ve tried for this has failed miserably.
Boil powdered dry ginger, onion and basil leaves in water. Drinking the mixture should give you some relief. It works for me.
Um, that sounds like pneumonia.
Well I don’t have a fever so I don’t think so. At least not yet. Definitely making an appointment as soon as the clinic opens. They fill up super fast though so…fingers crossed.
And Indian, I don’t have any of those things but thanks for the advice. Got about three more hours of sleep before coughing woke me up again. Sigh.
There’s walking pneumonia too. Not that you have it. Still, go early, wait if you must (dressed in layers) and be that first appointment. Please?
Might be nothing. Still…
Got an appointment at 10 so…hopefully they’ll give me something to, at the very least, sleep. I’m so freakin tired it’s not even funny.
I had Tylenol 3 left over from surgery a couple of weeks ago, and I took one before bed when I was coughing uncontrollably. It worked beautifully - the codeine from the T3 suppressed the cough urge (the acetaminophen was welcome, too). You might not have any more of that than you do a good cough syrup, but for future reference…
