Boobiegate investigation: warranted or rediculous?

What do you think? I think this is blown way out of proportion. Adult dramas show more. Girls Gone Wild infomercials show a lot more. An 8 year old can find more in 5 minutes on the internet. And how do you think the idiot that streaked feels now. He gets carted off naked but the news is all about Janet’s boob. It’s definitely a case of moral correctness gone wild.

I got worked up about this the other day (backwards middle-America always gets me worked up, I’m not afraid to say) but eventually decided I’d just be being mad at people being mad at a tit. So it wasn’t worth it. Just a

I think anything further than 5 seconds of thought is not warranted. So NO an investigation is certainly not.

It’s not about Janet’s tits. It’s not illegal to show breasts on TV. There only needs to be a warning prior to the show, which is done for any program that has questionable material.

If her career is in need of national exposure she chose a poor way to express it. This was a family event and it upset a lot of people. I don’t have kids but I was appalled by the act of a popular singer grabbing a woman’s clothing and tearing it off. It wasn’t just bad taste it was a glorified assault.

Hey, I enjoy a naked boob as much as the next guy. But most of us had moved on with our life by lunchtime Monday. The only people this obsessed about seeing a nipple are thirteen year old boys and conservative pundits.

Me? I’m waiting to see if the NFL retroactively apologizes for all the cheerleaders who’ve been showing off a lot more skin than Janet Jackson was.

Hell yes there should be an investagation. The blue ribbon panel should focus on this question: Why did we only get to see one of JJ’s boobies?

If they aren’t going to go over that, then forget about it

Every time I see that infuriated FCC guy on the news saying how mad he is about the whole thing and promising an investigation, I ask myself: Investigate what? That it happened? We already know that. Do they need to know who’s idea it was?

What a waste of time and money.

Disclaimer: In my opinion, censorship is stupid.

You have to be a sucker to get suckered, and CBS was. One would have to be a cave-dweller to not expect egotistical pop and hip-hop stars to do something outrageous when they got a shot at their biggest audience ever. Since the Superb Owl, the bigwigs at CBS and the dimbulb at the helm of the FCC have said they were shocked (shocked!) at the behavior of the performers who have been doing the same crotch-grabbing, freak-dancing, push-the-envelope act on MTV and on stage for years.

A simple 6-second delay would have let the network squelch all the objectionable stuff. Whoever let it go purely live will be pilloried in a public fashion. Janet will be fined, and she’ll see it as money well spent. Those who are shocked at P.Diddy’s and Whatsisname’s crotch-grabbing and Kid Rock’s flag poncho simply have not been paying attention in the last few years. It’s like hiring a stripper for a party, and being dismayed when she takes her clothes off.

Boobiegate…I like that name…
I think it’s ridiculous. It was a boob. Men have 'em too (looks in shirt, yeah, still there), they’re just smaller. And ever since elementary school we’ve been told that:
“Size matters not” - Yoda.
I think they just want a scandal so they’ll have something to do…and so they can get their faces on TV…it’s just ridiculous and will be a waste of tax payer money (heh, I’m glad I don’t pay taxes yet).

But just look at what we get worked up about… Clinton boinked a secretary in the White House and there was a ridiculously expensive investigation that just proved that yes, he did boink her. Bush lies about Iraq and we subsequently go to war and people die and no one bats an eye. I guess we’re too worked up about sex and nudity…

The obvious solution is not to have these “Halftime Extravaganzas”.

I wish.

Stop saying this is a family event. This isn’t a family event. It’s a “males aged 18-54 who drink” event.

Hooters is a “family restaurant”, but I don’t go there for the wings.

I go for the oyster bar

I think the idea that something seen by millions of people nationwide needs to be “investigated” is ridiculous, but I do agree that someone should be fined for it. It was clearly (if intentional, which it most likely was) done just for shock value/publicity, and these are not valid reasons for “pushing the envelope.”

In this case, “This needs to be investigated” just means “We need to make a formal determination whether wrongdoing has occurred.” You can’t fine anyone without investigating.

Ridiculous.

I personally think that most of the halftime show was over-sensationalized crap, but the one point I did enjoy, as did several of my friends, was Kid Rock’s performance. As a military member, I was at first a little worried about the flag he was wearing, but after a quick second glance I realized it was not a flag alterred to be a poncho, but a poncho decorated with the stars and stripes. I’ve seen ties, shirts, hats, and countless other bits of clothing, all of which are considerred patriotic. He een went so far as to have a stage hand ready to grab the poncho when he took it off, so it never touched the ground.

In the 6 years I’ve been serving in the Air Force, I’ve been well aware of Kid Rock’s consistant support of morale activities for military members thru concerts and vocal support. Even if I didn’t like his music I’d like the man for the patriotism he shows regularly, and his appreciation for the men and women who protect our nation’s freedom.

If he’s referred to at all as part of the rediculous nature of the half time show, it should be in reference to how inappropriate it was to have a decent, hard working american with a love for his fellow man and his country play second stage to a bunch of self-serving egos and their personal greed for money and fame.

Oh, and I guess [/hijack]

Sorry.

EXACTLY!!! Thank you! AN INVESTIGATION!!! HAHAHA!!! I think those oh so angry FCC shmucks want an investigation so they can look at JJ’s boob more than they already have. Pervs.

They keep talking about how inappropriate the whole thing was- even without the boobshot, and how children were watching- oh man- so traumatic for our children! Are you f-ing kidding me?? They were already watching the scandelous, sexy half time show in the first place- not to mention the violence involved in the sport of football itself! Please!! This is America, people! Football, scandelous dancing, beer commercials, boobshots- its all around- all the time. Stop pretending to be shocked!!

Ok, thanks- had to say my peice.

That half second of blurry nudity will scar the minds of millions of children beyond what modern psychiatry could ever repair.

I had to sit through that crappy halftime show and they only showed me one?!?
