i had never heard of a red-footed booby before, only a blue-footed one. which i have to admit looks and sounds (the name just flows) much cooler than red-footed.

The most prolific bird of Pulu Keeling National Park is the red-footed booby bird. It has many common names, frequently being called the “red-faced booby”, “red-legged gannet”, “Australian red-footed gannet”, “bush gannet” or more commonly known on both Cocos and Christmas Islands as the “red-footed booby bird” or simply known as “red foots”. Cocos Malay people of the Cocos (Keeling) Islands call the adult birds “burong putch”.

If you’re searching the web for information on booby birds, use the name of the genus (“Sula”) as the search term. Entering “boobies” in Google is, um, unproductive…
