Boobs on bikes parade, or why we're living on the wrong continent

Well, not all of us. Martini Enfield & the other Aussie Dopers are in the right place.

Boobs on bikes parade article

Boy, do I live on the wrong continent.

Someone should make sure that the parade goes over a lot of bumpy roads and speed bumps.

You can just go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Painted_naked_cyclists_of_the_Summer_Solstice_ParadeSeattle instead.
Warning, this Wiki link has a picture of naked painted boobies visible. Might be NSFW, if you work for a prude.

The parade is not in Australia. Auckland is the largest city in New Zealand, about 120km from where I live.

Cheers,
Kiwi

Sorry – disdn’t look to see where exactly it took place. I got the “continent” cue from the first post.

But We still associate NZ with the continent of Australia, the way we associate Caribbean islands with North and South America.

I’ll take the blame if someone can send me pictures of the parade.

Apparently the parade has taken place without incidnt.

No pix, though. Bummer

Now on CNN. Only pix from behind, or of guys:

There is a picture in the Sydney Morning Herald, which might be unsafe in some workplaces, so I’ve broken it in two:

Try again, to avoid that strange effect:

So, Australia is allowed to have naked cyclists, but would London police let Freddie Mercury have naked girl cyclists to promote one of his recordings years ago? Ha!

They’re not Swedes, MacReady, they’re Norwegians

Yep, just come to Seattle for the summer solstice parade.

I’ve volunteered as a painter the last couple of years, it’s good fun, and artistically rewarding seeing your own personal fleshy canvas wheeling down the street. :stuck_out_tongue:

I happened to be attending Microsoft TechEd in the Sky City Convention Centre, a few hundred metres from the action. Didn’t go, though. It looked fun and all, but MS’s upcoming Language Integrated Query was far more exciting.

Pffft.

The Ontario Supreme Court ruled years ago that topless women did not constitute indecency, as long as it’s not for commercial purposes (e.g. your average woman can walk down the street topless, but a strip club can’t have topless women lounging out side their establishment to lure people in). And that’s right here in North America.

Of course, you don’t see a lot of women walking around topless. IIRC, I’ve only seen a few women in the last ten years.

It was pretty much a publicity stunt for an “Erotica Expo”, and I think the organiser was half-hoping that someone would step in and ban it. The cops, and the council, however, were wise quite cool with it, despite a few mutterings. Chilly weather here for it, though - those women may not have been quite as excited about it as they first looked.

I loved this, from the first linked story-

Nah-that’s because it was feared they’d be fat bottomed girls.
