I don’t go to baseball games, but I do go to hockey games and the only time I boo the Kings is when I feel like they are not giving an honest effort and mailing it in.
Excuses. It was the same thing with the Mets. Only cracked 3 million twice in their history. Couldn’t even crack 2 million in six seasons since 1991. Compare to the Angels who have failed to bring in 2 million only five times since 1979. In that same time span the Mets failed to bring in 2 million 12 times and even failed to crack 1 million twice. And the Mets were less of a beaten step-child than the Angels were for most of that time - at least they won two World Series by 1986. All the Angels had were a monumental collapse in 1986, another choke in 1982 and a beatdown at the hands of the Orioles in 1979.
Maybe, but at least they show up whether their team is winning or losing. Unlike Yankee fans. The numbers speak for themselves - whatever stereotypes east coast fans want to cling to in order to help reinforce their misplaced sense of superiority is fine. But everyone knows the truth. New York fans are just bandwagoners.
Neurotik
As long as we’re just sniping now: I see you list DC as your location. Think you can lose a third team?
What choo talkin’ 'bout, Willis? DC hasn’t lost a single team, I know exactly where they are… Minnesota and Texas.
Don’t lump all NY fans in with baseball fans. The New York Giants have sold out for decades, even through very poor years on the field.
Yea and god knows why (NHL) Ranger fans were still showing up the last few years, that goes beyond dedicated.
Probably. Lord knows I won’t be supporting them. Even did my best to try and kill the stadium giveaway. Fortunately, I don’t care about DC fans since I’m from southern California.
Good point. Knicks fans are very good, too. And as much as it seems like I’m trying to portray New York baseball fans as worse than others, they’re not. The truth is that they’re about the same. By and large, fans come out when the team is good and don’t come out when the team is bad, with very few teams on the ends of the spectrum that either can’t get a crowd going even when the team is good or draw crowds even when the team isn’t so hot (Oakland being a good example of the former and the Dodgers being a good example of the latter).
Darn. Now i have to concede and agree with you. Another perfectly useless debate shot to hell my fair logic and statement.
