I’m trying to remember the name of a book I read in the last year or two. I think it was the beginning of a trilogy (or longer). It was a post-apocalyptic world kind of book, and the protagonist was a woman who I believe was pregnant.

The book consisted of her journeying across a fairly typical post-apocalyptic USA, trying to reach the place where she believed her husband lived. It ended with her meeting up with him and his parents.

Along the way, she met and spent time with a person who had mutated from female to male as a result of whatever disaster caused all the destruction.

I think it was a fairly popular book, and it’s bugging the heck out of me that I can’t remember the name. I want to see if the next in the series has come out.

Anyone?

:confused: The Twelve is the second, not the first, book in the Passage trilogy, after The Passage. To me, neither plot sounds anything like what the OP describes.

You’re probably right but it does tick a lot of the boxes presented by the OP: recent, popular, post apocalyptic, pregnant protagonist, part of a series, next installment coming out soon. Just a guess.

Y’know, it might be “The Twelve”. It certainly sounds right. I had no idea it was the second in the series.

Snakeskin Road by James Braziel probably isn’t it, but it does tick some of the boxes. And, looking for a link, I found that it was also a part 2 (or at least a sequel)

Sounded good from your short description, so I just bought the first book in the series for my Kindle. It’s over 700 pages!!! Know what I’m doing this weekend…
