If I posted a book/movie/whatever review that I wrote, with the intent of discussion debate about the (say) book and my criticism of it (as opposed to writing a book review that everyone can marvel at the pristine glory of without comment :D) would it be more appropriate for MPSIMS or IMHO or GD or the Pit? I suspect IMHO, but I wanted a mod call.
Or does it simply depend on the book? (Let’s face it, any review of Atlas Shrugged probably should start in GD, with the understanding that it’ll end up in The Pit within seven(7) posts ( ), while a review of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz could go into IMHO or MPSIMS)
Great! Thanks for the insight TVeblen. BTW, your quote really clarified the difference in tone between the four groups. Maybe Tuba or Lynn or someone could fit it into the descriptions page? It’s too good to just leave laying around in a soon-to-be forgotten ATMB thread.
There was a discussion on this very issue in this thread: Harry Potter: Spokesman for the Me! Me! Now! Now! Generation
where Manda JO’s OP was a critique of the children book series featuring young wizard Harry Potter. GD moderator Gaudere stated
There is further discussion in the thread on the subject. I don’t know that any official policy decision has been made, but in the meantime, since one of the GD moderators has said “reviews belong in IMHO”, and an IMHO moderator has said “send them on over”, I would guess that IMHO is a good spot for those types of threads.
There’s nothing more opinionated than your thoughts on some work, whatever that work may be . . . it’s Your Humble Opinion. (Sometimes NOT so humble. )
So off to IMHO, please, with all your critiques and reviews.
