A friend of mine is going to KC for Thanksgiving holiday and I wanted to scope out a couple of bookstores for her to take harbor in when facing the inlaws.

They are a used bookstore chain with locations in many states and in my opinion are better than any other bookstore (new or used). They have several stores in the Kansas City area. Also, they have a very efficient buying process, it takes 30 minutes at most, on a busy day.
Do you know which part of Kansas City? The metro area is huge, so if we can narrow it down we can get you a list of stores for new and used books.
Also, I’ll second Furious_Marmot’s suggestion. Half-Price book stores are pretty good; otherwise, we have the usual Barnes and Noble, Borders, and Rainy Day Books.
